After drinking the hangover soup Jake made, I put my coat on and get ready to go.
"Renata? I think we could go to Mr King's place first"
"Jake, we can go later" I retort, "We should go through the list first. Who's first on the list Jake?"
"Paisley Valentine"
"Let's go, Jake! Please stop wasting my time! Kyle asked us to meet him there"
Jake stays quiet and remembers that if he speaks he'll regret it soon. Parking the car, the both of us get out to greet Kyle who stands by his car wearing sunglasses. I'm finding this a bit odd to me.
"Kyle, why are your dresses like your about to embezzle money from a bank?"
As soon as I consult that he grabs it off and sets it aside, uneasily.
"I know Paisley, she used to be quite difficult but I'm sure we can handle it if we both act normal in front of her. She's one of our classmates after all"
"Meaning?"
"Kyle...jake and I are the only people who can go. You are staying here in case"
Walking is easy but holding hands like we are a couple, not so much. Both walking freely to Paisley's house was a smart move. Jake gives me a look when I ask for him to knock or ring the doorbell. When he doesn't do it.
"I'll do it" I whisper. Before I knock someone answers the door but she's not paisley. The woman looks at us suspiciously and then I realize someone holding my hand. I shake it off. Before we can get any info about Paisley she slams the door on us. The walk of shame is even worse. Why'd he even-? No way. He wanted to pretend like we were a couple?
"Any news?" Kyle inquiries.
"The trail has gone cold" I reply, "Let's go"
"So it's a dead-end?"
