wooyoung enjoyed his last few minutes of calm while he set up his station. he took his time making the freshly cleaned brushes line up and color-coordinating the lip tints. the other makeup artists were cheerfully chatting since they were used to the routine. nobody approached him but he didn't expect anyone to.

they would probably watch him from afar and check his personality to see if they'd even want to waste their time with the newbie. but wooyoung would do the same. he didn't want to make the wrong friends and start with a bad reputation. he needed to make good connections since he was starting off working for a smaller company and rookie artists. he wasn't sure who they were as he was mostly just a fan of girl groups.

all he heard is that it was a group made up of five members and they were known for their unmatched stage presence. i bet itzy could give them a run for their money, wooyoung thought to himself. he would give his soul away to do makeup for them or even breathe near them. sadly, itzy was in a totally different hall. even that distance was enough to make wooyoung's heart beat out of his chest.

"the boys will be here any second now, get your stations ready!" the room leader announced.

a chorus of "yes" echoed in the room as everyone split off to their assigned areas. not long after, the group waltzed into the room. all of them bowed and a few even said hello to specific workers. "handsome, aren't they?" one of the artists beside him whispered.

all he could do was laugh because, they definitely were but he had worked hard to remain indifferent. although, he wouldn't mind if the one with red hair sat in his chair. sadly, he walked off to a different station and another boy came his way. "hello, it's nice to meet you, i'm choi san!"

"i'm jung wooyoung, i'll do my best today!"

"thank you!" san giggled and took his seat.

the boy already had near perfect skin besides a couple of blemishes on his cheek. wooyoung didn't even want to apply skin products but he knew the stage lights would require some. "have you done makeup for any other idols before?" san questioned.

but san quickly let out a small gasp and waved his hand in front of his face, "i didn't mean for that to sound like i was judging your skills or anything! just curious!"

wooyoung laughed at the panicked boy. "actually, you're the first idol i've ever done makeup for. i promise i've practiced a lot on others though! you can trust me!" he reassured him.

san smiled at him through the mirror as wooyoung patted some concealer on him. the room had already become hectic even though it was barely dawn. one of the idols was blasting gfriend from his phone (which wooyoung found himself humming to) and another was belting high notes that clearly showed he was a rapper. the last one was sleeping in his chair somehow. "is it usually like this?" wooyoung asked.

"not always. sometimes we're even louder."

"that's pretty impressive."

as wooyoung came close to the other to apply eyeshadow, he noticed san taking deep breaths. "are you okay?" wooyoung pouted.

"yeah i'm fine, just a bit nervous."

"that's understandable, it's your comeback stage! i'm sure you'll do great!"

"yeah, sure, that's why." san let out a light laugh.

a few more minutes passed until wooyoung had blended out everything. he stepped back to admire his work and he had to admit he was a bit surprised with himself. please let it look this good on stage too, wooyoung wished. "it looks amazing! thank you so much!" san bowed as he got up from the chair.
