We slowly open the door, careful not to make any sound. We peek in and see that Dali and Jul pushed the beds together and are snuggled up against each other.
I grab a pillow that was out on the floor and Lilac grabs the other one. One of us stands on each side of the bed with our pillows in hand. I look over at Lilac and she nods.
"Three, two, one!" I whisper and we hit them with the pillows. Jul wakes up immediately and glares at me after he realizes what's going on.
I'm eating a spoonful of eggs as Dali and Jul walk into the kitchen. Dali grabs a mug and fills it with coffee before sitting down on one of the seats. She takes a sip of her coffee and look around the kitchen.
Jul grabs a plate off eggs and bacon and sits down next to Dali. He pays her hand that she's not holding the mug with and then starts eating his breakfast. then
I take a bite of my bacon and watch as Lilac moves around the kitten gracefully, finishing making eggs and bacon for her and Dali. She sets them on the plates and sets one down in front of Dali who just finished her coffee.
She sits down beside me and starts eating food. I finish mine and put my plate in the sink. I sit back down and put my tablet on the table. I clear my throat and everyone looks towards me.
"I sent and email to the government about the North the other day. And they replied and said that they would like to talk to me and Jul about it," I state. Jul looks at me wide eyed and the others have similar expressions of shock on their faces.
"Why did you do that?" Dali asks after she swallows a mouthful of bacon. I remember the contaminated streets and all the violence and shiver. I take a sip of my orange juice and shrug.
"I did it so they can help the people that live there. No I'm reserved to live like we had to," I say quietly. Jul just nods his head and stands up, putting his dishes in the sink. He sits back down at the table and foods his hands.
"I'll do it. When is this thing?" He asks. I tell him that it's next Friday morning, a day that he has off. We are going to an actual government building a few cities over from here. Dali decides that she is coming along too and Lilac says she'll close the shop that day.
We walk out to the living room and Dali pulls out a board game from one of the cupboards. She sets it on the coffee table and opens it up. They name of the game is 'Sorry' and basically the goal is to get all your pawns back to home base before everyone else does.
Jul plays music on his tablet while we play the game. There's so many different kinds of music besides what our old leader used to let us listen to. Everything had to be approved by him, from propaganda to what people can have.
We finish the game with Lilac winning, Jul in second, Dali in third, and me in last. Dali picks out another board game called monopoly and we play that for a goof four hours before seeing who had the most money and properties, which was me.
"We should go shopping for clothes for when we meet the government people," Lilac suggests as Jul puts the game back in the cabinet. We all agree and walk outside to her car. We get in and she drives off towards a mall.
She parks in front of it and I gasp at the pure size of it. It's bigger than any building over ever seen in the North before. We walk in and to a fancy looking store.
A guy helps Jul pick out a fancy shirt and pants which Dali pays for. We walk out and to a dress shop where we all spend hours trying on different dresses. But Jul, like always, is super helpful and doesn't get bored.
I finally decide on a blue dress that compliments my brown hair and blue eyes. It has two inch wide straps that go over the shoulders and a ribbon that ties in the back.
Dali gets a vibrant red dress that compliments her body figure. Jul practically drools over her as she walks out of the changing room. I snap my fingers and he stops staring. She buys the dress while we wait for Lilac to get out.
She comes out of the dressing room a moment later in a white dress that dips down in the back. It looks really pretty and I like it the best out of all the ones she's tried on today. I tell her and she agrees, walking up to the register and buying the dress.
We quickly get shoes from a shoes from a shoes store and then walk over t the food court. I order some fish tacos from a stand and save a table for me and the others. They all sit down and we talk while we wait for our food to be ready.
"Thanks for paying for everything Dali," I say. She waves me off and laughs. She takes out her purse and shows us her wallet stuffed full with cash. I stare at her in shock and that just prompts her to laugh harder.
" Honey, my parents are rich. It was no big deal. I only work at Lilac's shop for some extra cash, " she says. I nod and we continue talking. Our orders get called from different vendors at almost the same time and we walk up and grab our food.
We eat our food and talk, all of us trying to hide our nerves about going to talk to the government.
