Hermione Jean Granger, a 16-year-old bookworm, sat in her home library, or as she called it her 'sanctuary', early Monday morning, which was also the first day of school. The brunette always loved school, except for the fact that she would be constantly bullied by someone, who would be ranting to her about how terrible she looked, she would mentally agree with them because she knew that was true, however, she was a really good looking girl, her hair, which was a bit below her shoulder, was a perfect shade of brown with tiny golden strips at the end, that complemented her chocolate brown eyes and the light, scattered freckles on her face, she would sometimes admit that her face looked pretty, but never her body. She always thought she looked plain, despite her parents telling her otherwise.
Hermione was already dressed in her school uniform, which was a black knee-length skirt with a white shirt and a golden and black striped tie, she often wore a black jacket that had her school's badge on it along with a blue circle pin because she was running for school president. Turning on to the 75th page of To Kill a Mockingbird, she sighed, as her mother, Maria Granger, called her, "Hermione, dear, breakfast's ready!"
Her mom was the head chef of the family and liked to tend to the family of three, Hermione, her husband, and herself, with courses that would often be served in a five-star restaurant. Hermione closed the book and got up from the armchair, where she was sitting on. She dusted out her skirt, as a force of habit and headed out the door for the stairs and then the kitchen.
To Hermione's utter disbelief, her mother hadn't cooked a five-star meal, instead, there was a simple bacon and eggs with some toast, on a golden platter alongside a cup of orange juice. She walked up to her mom, who was washing the utensils she used for cooking breakfast, and gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek, "Morning Mom," said Hermione.
Her mother, whom Hermione had inherited her chocolate brown eyes from, had her hair in a neat bun and was a bit taller than her daughter, but nothing compared to her father.
Speaking of her father, John Granger came down the stairs with his shoes clamping on the wood, he reached down the stairs and ran over to the kitchen, "That smells delicious!" He exclaimed. Hermione's father was tall, as mentioned earlier, he had a fair complexion, which Hermione inherited, and short brown hair in which he neatly combed to the side, he also wore brown, round glasses, which Hermione adored, "Good Morning, Maria," he gave her a kiss on her cheek, "Good Morning, Hermione," he kissed her forehead.
"Morning, John."
"Morning, dad," They replied, both standing on their tiptoes to kiss his cheeks. Hermione went over to her platter and admired her mother's skills in the presentation of food. She took her platter along with her glass and sat on one of the three chairs around the beautiful round mahogany table in the dining room which wasn't far from the kitchen, due to the open concept of the house.
"Why the lack of cuisine this morning?" Hermione asked, curiously, as she used her silver fork to pick up the bacon.
"Well Hermione, your dad and I have an important meeting with a business that we could have a really good partnership with," Maria Granger replied, taking out John's food as he read the Daily Chronicle, the daily newspaper. Hermione's mother and father worked together as the CEO's of Granger's Dentistry, as dentists, they usually worked by themselves so this made Hermione curious.
"Partnership?" She asked her parents. The nodded and John placed down his newspaper to look at her, "Yes," he replied, "and with a very wealthy young man, I believe he's still in his teens, his parents died a few years back and he's been living by himself and took over his parents' business, I am very impressed." Hermione now thought a bit highly of the gentleman, if her father was impressed with someone, that was saying something.
