(Edited)Chapter Six:
( T H E W O R L D C U P )
It had been past midnight when Artemis had fallen asleep, so it was no wonder she felt like she'd just fallen asleep when she felt Ginny Weasley shaking her awake to inform her that they'd be leaving for the World Cup in less than forty minutes.
Waking up, she squinted her eyes and laid in bed for another ten minutes contemplating if the World Cup was worth losing her sleep over.
Twenty minutes later, she was ready. Albeit tired, but ready nonetheless. She'd taken her hair out of her braid and for once, her usually pin straight hair was wavy, mostly because she'd slept in with the french braid. She left it just as it was, too tired to do anything with it.
She pulled over a pair or jeans, a grey cashmere sweater that she cuffed around her wrists with wedges adorning her feet. She wore a different pair of off-white pearl earrings and with a wash of concealer under her eyes to hide her lack of sleep, she was ready.
She was walking down the stairs as she heard the commotion downstairs.
"HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU NOT TO LEAVE THOSE FAKE WANDS EVERYWHERE! CAN'T EVEN TAKE A BREATH THIS EARLY-" Oh. A normal day at the Weasley abode. She thought to herself.
They were accompanied by Amos Diggory and his son, Cedric to the World Cup. Cedric Diggory was a nice guy. The nicest Artemis had ever met, atleast. She reckoned he didn't have a single bad bone in his body. He was the only one who hadn't treated her differently after learning her last name. Even the the twins had turned the other way on the train after they'd heard her last name back in first year.
"How was your summer?" She heard Cedric asking as he made his way towards her.
"Oh, it was quite pleasant." Artemis smiled. "How was yours?"
"Same old. Spent time with family and practiced quidditch." He said grinning. "How were your O.W.L. results?"
"Pretty good. Got an O in everything except History of Magic. I'm dropping that, can't stand it. How I managed to get an E in History of Magic is beyond me, I probably would've failed if I didn't have the twins tutoring me." She said shaking her head.
"Speaking of the twins, one of them is glaring at me, which one I can't tell." He said sheepishly. Artemis looked back just in time to see Fred looking away. George caught her eyes and he smirked making weird faces. She shook her head smiling at his antics.
"Well better get going then, I'll see you at school?" She said.
"Ofcourse. Have a good summer Artemis!" He said waving as she nodded. "You too!"
She walked back to catch up with the group as she saw George wiggling his eyebrows.
She raised one eyebrow, a smirk plastered on her face.
"Didn't know you were close with Cedric." She heard Fred mutter.
"He's been my partner in Herbology for three years."
