Chapter Twelve:
(T H E A F T E R - E F F E C T S)
The constant ache in the dark haired witch's neck was what woke her up and as she opened her eyes to find herself at the foot of the bed, she realised why. Her head pounded as she tried to recall the events of last night, she vaguely remembered having returned and cried for quite some time.
"Pathetic."
Did I just hear that? She thought to herself, looking around only to see Lilanna passed out on her bed and her roommates nowhere in sight. There wasn't a soul in the room who could've said that unless Artemis was hearing things. Am I? She thought. Surely, she still wasn't drunk?
She looked towards her dresser to see the clock and immediately jumped up. There's only twenty minutes left of breakfast! She though as the obsidian haired witch ran over to Lilanna and shook her in an attempt to get her awake.
"Uhmm go..away.." Lilanna murmured incoherently.
"Get up Lilanna!" The green eyed witch called her friend frantically."Breakfast ends in twenty and we have classes right after!" She said continually shaking her. Lilanna shot up at the mention of breakfast and the two witches got ready in record time.
Five minutes later, they were half-running towards the Great Hall. Most students were already halfway through their plates and many had left already. The Slytherin duo noticed Amelia as she came running in and found her way to them.
"Hey guys." Amy said as Artemis muttered a hey back and Lilanna grumbled something incoherent. All three of them sat at the Ravenclaw table.
"Why didn't you wake me up earlier? All the starters are gone!" Lilanna said grumbling.
"I don't know, maybe because someone decided it was a plausible idea to drag us to a party on a weekday?" Artemis glared at her as Lilanna grinned sheepishly.
"Oh! that reminds me. Where did you disappear to yesterday? I didn't see you leave." Amy said eating her oatmeal as Lilanna nodded agreeing. "Yeah where'd you head off to?" Said Lilanna.
"You are ones to talk when you were the ones who left me alone." Artemis fired sharply as she put a french toast on her plate.
"Sorry." Both chimed in guiltily. "But on the bright side I saw you talking to that Durmstrang boy. My my! What a beauty he was! Definitely better than Fred!" Said Lilanna cheering up, but the dark haired witch's face immediately fell at the mention of Fred. An action that didn't go unnoticed by her friends.
"It wasn't anything like that. We were just talking." Artemis said nibbling on her toast.
"Don't give me that bullshit, Artemis. What happened?" Lilanna asked serious all of a sudden. "Did he hurt you? Did he do anything because if he did I swear–"
"Ofcourse not Lils! Alex was nice he didn't do anything." Both of them calmed down as the obsidian haired witch said that.
"Then what's wrong?"
"I saw Fred with Angelina." Artemis said. Amy was about to say something when she cut her off. "Snogging." Artemis added averting her gaze from Amelia, her eyes involuntarily moving to the Gryffindor table and she wished they hadn't. Angelina was sat next to Fred laughing at something he probably said, slapping his arm. Artemis looked away before he could notice her staring and looked down.
