Chapter One:
(D U N G B O M B S A N D L O V E)
Green fumes emerged from the cauldron as it bubbled, stir one, two, three times clockwise as the obsidian haired witch added in a newt's eye and the concoction turned to a translucent purple, just what it needed to be.
She turned to her right to glance at her partner Lilanna Yvoniss, struggling with her potion as it bubbled furiously, an ugly yellow in color. Lilanna glanced at Artemis' potion that looked exactly like it was supposed to then back at her own that still bubbled furiously, now maroon in color.
"How did you do that?" Lilanna whispered in shock.
"By following the instructions." Artemis muttered back, her gaze focused on her potion as she stirred.
"I am doing the same and it's clearly not working out for me." Came the reply. Artemis quietly reached over and poured the vial of acramantula venom into Lilanna's potion turning it a dark purple. Lilanna looked between her potion and the textbook she was supposed to be following dumbfounded.
"How in the bloody hell did I miss that?!"
"I assume you've completed your potion Miss Yvoniss as you seem very indulged in your conversation in the middle of my class."
"Sorry Professor." Lilanna immediately murmured.
"Detention for you Miss Yvoniss."

"He's a nightmare I tell you!"
"Having you in anyone's class is more of a nightmare than Snape, honestly." Muttered Amelia Scott.
Artemis smirked as Lilanna glared at both of her friends.
"Why would he give me detention for just speaking a little—" Amelia and Artemis gave her a look. "Okay maybe a little more than little but you get my point!" Lilanna's ramble was stopped by a shrill shriek as everyone's gaze focused on a pair of flaming red heads laughing away from a distance at a poor first year who currently had a hole through their tongue.
"Isn't that the Weasley twins?"
"The poor first year."
"Wait till McGonagall hears this!"
It's not like any amount of detention was going to put a damper in their mischief and Dumbledore and McGonagall adored them too much to expel them, though the twins did make them question it no doubt. Artemis rolled her eyes.
Artemis looked up to see warm brown eyes gazing into her green ones even from a distance as Fred Weasley held her gaze. The same brown ones she had seen at the station. Surprisingly, they had never talked after that encounter at the station. Their mother had helped her get on to the platform and seen them off. As soon as they had got on to the train they'd gone separate ways and afterwards were sorted into different houses so they never actually got to talk again.
But she'd notice them sometimes, it was hard not to, really. They had a knack for making themselves known. Sometimes, she would have this unusual eye contact with the flaming haired wizard that made her feel a weird stirring inside her that she couldn't explain so she stayed away from him. Artemis did not like things she couldn't explain.
It was peculiar, both of them were identical to the last freckle but only one of them could invoke that reaction with his stare, which she'd feel almost instantaneously and as if they were magnets, her eyes would be drawn to his. Like they were at the very moment.
