Y/n POV

I groaned in vain as I tried finding leftover food in the trash bin but none was found. I tried looking through other trash bins but still none.

"It's already 3 days since me and my little brother, Chenle, has eaten. I hope he's not gonna get sick any time soon." I felt my heart ache just by thinking of the worst case scenario since Chenle always had a weak immune system.

I shook my thoughts off and went back to find food before the sun sets. Luckily, I saw a teenage man with a red hoodie on throw his half eaten hamburger in front of a restaurant.

I peeked my head inside the bin and what's left inside the burger were the buns. I looked over to him one last time as his back faded away.

"That punk, wasting such good food. Still, I'm giving him a thanks for letting me have it for free." I said with my arms crossed. I took the buns in my hands and looked at the clock from the town hall nearby.

"Just a few more minutes before going back to Chennie~" I skipped my home with only buns in hand for dinner. I walked past the dark alleyway and turned right. On my right was a dead end but is now me and my little brother's "home."

"Chenle- CHENLE?!" I dropped everything I held as soon as I saw Chenle laying on the cold ground and rushed beside him. I checked his pulse and I could barely feel his heartbeat. I also checked his forehead and he was burning. Must've been a fever.

"This is no time to be panicked... calm down Y/n."

I grabbed his arm and put it around my shoulder and I held his waist. I walked with him to a place where people could possibly help but even if I doubt the kindness of people nowadays, I still had to believe that there would be a time they wouldn't look down on beggars like us like how I used to be.

That small regret that played a major role in my life for I was being ruthless and evil towards the poor back then.

As soon as I got out in the streets full of people walking their way home to their families, I tried asking those who passed by me. To those I've already asked, they've shaken their heads and telling me a firm "no" while the others just ignored me and my brother.

I sighed heavily and brought my brother to a bench provided by the convenience store in front of us. I layed him down and held his hand to pass some warmth. I didn't even have much clothes, just a thin cloth to cover my body.

I kneeled down and ruffled my brother's hair.

"Chenle... I'm sorry. I'm sorry I couldn't make you smile like before. To spoil you with all our money, and to bond without a care." I dug my face in his hands, letting my tears fall. I couldn't bare it. I just can't.

"I'm still a human but I guess karma came for me after all my evil deeds. But... but why does it have to be with my brother, Chenle? He deserves better?"

I broke down but someone tapped my back. I wiped my tears and faced that person. As soon as I met his eyes, I knew exactly who he was.

"It's the hoodie boy!"
