Bailey's story begins before he was even born in February  2014 in Northampton in a dark depressing council flat. These council flats should have been knocked down years ago, however that would of left a lot of people homeless and the council wanted everyone in their town to be happy happy happy. Unfortunately the people that lived in this estate were not happy or good and probably deserved to be homeless.  The police were there most weekends and ambulances were always turning up as people would fight each other or take drugs and become unconscious.  Sometimes someone would jump out of a very high window and die because they couldn't face another day living there.

Some council estates are very nice. Sometimes people are just down on their luck and cannot help living in small dirty flats, this was not the case for any of these people. These people had no dreams, savings or hope for the future and they didn't even care.

In this estate there were many old buildings converted into flats. The rumors were they used to be very posh mansions in the olden days, however these were just rumors and no one believed them. People just imagined these old flats were always here, they would never get knocked down, people were born in them and died in them.

Our special cat was born in the Atkins building, floor 7 and flat number 5. This flat was on the seventh floor and it didn't have a lift so you would have to walk up all the stairs. Most of the time, the people that lived on the seventh floor just stayed inside. No point going up and down those stairs all the time for no reason. Now flat 5 was normal like the others, a bit grubby and rather on the small side. It had a small kitchen, a joint living room/bedroom and a bathroom. Most of the time the hot water didn't work and there was always mould.

Tracey and Steve Jennings rented it. Tracey and Steve were not married, however Tracey was that desperate for love she tended to take on new boyfriend's last names. She had about 7 boyfriends a year, she would say she loved them and cheat on them when she was bored. Or they would cheat on her. One or two had even hit her but Tracey didn't like to think about the past, she didn't even think about her future. She lived in the present with Steve, her flat and her cat.

Yes Tracey Jennings had a cat. This cat was black and white and called Mittens. Mittens did not mind living in this grubby and small flat as she was allowed to sleep on the bed and got fed twice a day. Tracey and Steve did not pay Mittens much attention, that was okay though as Mittens liked being on her own. Tracey never really wanted a cat, however she found Mittens on the street a couple of years ago when she was a kitten and got attached. She would of hated Mittens if she was cuddly and annoying, however Mittens seemed happy to just eat and sleep and do her own thing.

You see, Tracey and Steve took drugs. They sold drugs and injected them, swallowed them and sniffed them. Now this was not unusual in these flats, while not everyone did drugs most people did. The tenants did not have to travel far to buy drugs or sell them. They would go out shopping once a week to the corner shop and buy cat food, frozen pizza, coffee, milk, haribo sweets, cigarettes and toilet roll. They were actually very happy in their flat. Waking up, having a cigarette, having a coffee, inject some heroin, have a pizza, have sex, feed the cat and go to bed. It might not be perfect but hey it was their life and nothing could spoil it. I mean what could change?
