The Fireflies brought him back (Hotarubi no Mori e Fanfic)

Chapter I

HOTARU TAKEGAWA'S POV

"You can finally hug me, Come here, Hotaro!" says Gin as he extends his arms.

"Gin, I love you!" I reply while bringing myself towards his arms to finally hug him.

"At last, after all these years, I can already touch you, Gin", I thought to myself. Gin then dissapears and Im down to my knees, crying my heart out.

"Ringgggggg Ringggggg"

The sound of my alarm clock finally brings me back to reality. My eyes are filled with tears again, just like yesterday and the day before that ever since that sorrowful summer night. Its because of the same dream I have everynight, Gin's dissapearance.

"I'm late!" I cried. How come I set the alarm clock wrongly again? I'm such a wuss. I hurriedly took a shower, ate breakfast and head off to work.

Its been 10 years since Gin's dissapearance.

Even though quite a lot of time has passed, the scars of him being gone never failed to make my heart ache and everytime I would think about it, I would always end up in overflowing tears.

I tried to forget him, not thinking about him anymore. But no matter how much I tried, and how much I tell myself he's never coming back, my heart's never convinced.

Deep down, I'm still hoping, he will come back and I will spend the rest of my life with him, and nothing will ever matter. We'll just be watching the red sun as it sets, both of us being so helplessly inlove.

"Oww!" I scream as I fall down and drop my things, scattering them all on the ground.

"Are you alright, miss? I'm so sorry, I was just in a hurry because I really need to catch the train." says the stranger I bumped into.

"Oh no, its also my fault, I kinda didnt look where I was going. But dont worry, I'm alright." I reply.

"Uh, let me help you with your things." The stranger says as he picks up my things.

"If you don't mind, may I know your name, miss?", he says. Oh I almost forgot to tell you guys, yes, the stranger is a guy.

"Um, its Takegawa. Hotaru Takegawa.", I reply.

"Lovely name, Takegawa-san, hehe. Um, I really need to get going! Nice meeting you! Bye", He says as he waves and rushes to catch his train.

I just realized I forgot to ask his name, and gave away mine. Well lets just hope that guy was actually nice. I glanced at my watch and I remembered I needed to go to work! Oh no! I'm running late!

I rush as fast as I can to catch my train as well and made it just in time. I was gonna enter the gate when I heard a cute voice calling out to me.

"Hotaruuuu!!"

I look back to see Minorin Ayumi, my co-worker waving back with her grin from ear to ear that always brightens everybody's mood.

"Good morning, Minorin-san" I say with a smile.

"Good morning as well Hotaru!! Didnt I tell you to call me by my first name and drop the honorifics?" she replies.

"Oh I forgot about that hehe. Anyways youre late as well?" I said.

"Only for todayyy! I overslept hmppp😤 at least im not always late" she replies with her cute little expression that somewhat invites me to pinch her pinkish cheecks.
I laugh a little and we proceed to our cubicles to start working.

The first time I met Minorin-san was the first day at work. No female wanted to be friends with her since everybody was jealous of her beautiful face and body, and most especially her heart-warming personality that all men in the office are after.

Seeing her so lonely on her first day, urged me to approach her and be her friend. Thus, since then, she would always stay right by my side telling me a lot of stories about herself. She even demanded on the first day that her cubicle be right next to mine. Our boss agreed as he saw how lonely she was without me and because our boss was a guy, and just like any guy, he found her cute, so our cubicles are right beside each other and we could chat for how long we want.

"Hey Hotaru, I heard there will be a new guy working in our company!! I also heared he's quite a handsome guy!!", says Minorin-san.

"Oh, really?" I reply. "I think no one will ever be as good-looking as my first and last love, Gin".

"Ah! I remember him! The guy you told me about! The guy who dissapeared because he accidentally touched a human child?" says Minorin-san.

My heart ached a little, hearing those words come out of Minorin-san's mouth. Gosh, I miss you, Gin, a lot!

"Good morning, everyone!", our boss says to have everyon's attention. "We have a newbie working here starting today. Make sure all of you treat him nicely and with respect. Everyone, I'd like you to meet, Itsuki Haru-kun!"

I was about to start working when I heard a familiar voice call out my name.

" Hi! Nice to- oh! Hello Takegawa-san!"

I look back to find out that the newbie is the stranger I bumped into earlier. I wave my hand and smile at him.

After his introduction, our cubicles were beside each other, as our boss noticed we knew each other.

I start the conversation. "Um, Haru-kun was it?"

"Uh yes, Takegawa-san", he replies.

"Eehhhhhhh? You know each other?", says Minorin-san.

"Actually, we bumped into each other earlier, and he helped me pick up my things." I reply

"Yes, It was kinda my fault hehe, and you are?" says Haru-kun

"I'm Minorin Ayumi! But you can call me Ayumi!" says Minorin san.

"Um is it really okay to drop the honorifics even if we just met, Ayumi? hehe", Haru-kun replies.

"I'm sure it is, after all, Minorin san is such a friendly person! You'll get close to her in no time", I said

"Indeed! also Hotaru! I told you to drop the honorifics and call me Ayumi hmpp" says Minori- I mean Ayumi.

I chuckle, nod my head and go back to work.

"Its nice meeting you both. Well since we already know each other, can I ask for both of your contact infos? If thats okay." says Haru kun.

"Sure, heres mine", says Ayumi.

"Here's mine too", I reply. "Well after that, we really have to get back to work or boss is gonna get mad at us."

"Okay", both Haru and Ayumi says and we all get back to work.
