Fate Arcana

Chapter 3

Baltazar seemed to notice how I was taken aback by his statement and stood up. "Do you mind if we walk around while we talk?" He asked. "Okay." I said flatly not really sure if I want to, but being with him in the same room feels suffocating so I guess it's better to have a stroll.

While walking around the castle I observed the place, it's already dawn but the castle seemed busier now. I can see maids and butlers running around, some who passed by would bow and greet us. Baltazar started talking, "I want to properly introduce myself to you once again Sebastian. This is my castle and I am Baltazar, king of the Spade kingdom." He looked at me waiting if I was gonna say something, but when I didn't speak he continued "This world is different from the world you lived in, in this dimension the world is only divided into 4 kingdoms; Spade, Clover, Diamond and Heart. I also mentioned earlier that people here possess magic, this magic is based on the four kingdoms and it operates from using cards that have spells casted on them, the card of Spade posseses wind magic, while the card of Clover possesses Earth magic, Card of Diamond for Water magic and Card of Heart for fire magic: So the lifesource in this world revolves in using those elemental cards."

"This is all too hard to comprehend." I mumbled still confused from all the things he said and he again continued to explain as we walked towards the indoor garden that I passed by earlier.

"There are two types of people in this world, the caster and the user. An example of a caster are the mages who's divination is limited to casting magic in order to make the elemental cards, while the user are those indivuals who don't posses magical aptitude and therefore depend on the elemental cards for their daily living. However there's also an exemption to the caster/user rule, there are also individuals who possess unique abilities, a great example is our friend Gregory who could travel to different dimensions and with his help we were able to fetch you."

"Again, why am I here?" I asked.

"It is because you possess one of the most rare divination, that is to rewrite fate. You can control the flow of destiny, Sebastian."

"I don't even belong to this world, how sure are you that I possess this so called power? I myself even think that I'm just a normal human, and even if I could 'alter fate' why and what would you need it for?"

I noticed the shift in his mood after I asked that question, he became quiet for a few minutes as we walk inside the gazeebo in the middle of the pond, he inhaled deeply after that. "As you know I am the king of the Spade kingdom." He started "It is my duty to lead my people and look for new ways on how I could develop the lands and culture, and I certainly think that with your help I could do more." He paused and looked at me. "I want to change the past wherein these divinations will no longer exist in our current world. I have witnessed how my people and how each country have struggled in order to gain more power, because of this, chaos spawned everywhere and caused a rift between the four kingdoms. I want to change that so the world could be a more simplier and peaceful place."

'Am I in a movie or something?' I thought to myself, but then I also feel like there's more to it than just that as he did not answer my first question, I feel like he's not telling me something. "Do you think I trust you? What made you think that I'd cooperate with this?" I said full of conviction.

"Sebastian, trust me." Those simple words somehow strucked me, I still don't trust him but somehow it felt like I could, but I can't let my guard down. "Let's say I agreed to help, I'm not saying I will but just hypothetically, who's destiny should I rewrite and where should it start?" I carefully asked.

"It's getting late, I know what I said is already too much to process so let's continue this tomorrow." He said while looking afar, there were still so many questions I wanted to ask but I remained silent as we walked back to my room, "Feel free to do what you like, if you need assistance you may ask the maids." he said and left me not long after that.

I was now alone in my room as I contemplate on all the things that Baltazar said, today has been a really long day, from a totally boring life and the next thing I know I'm already in this bizarre situation. There's too much information and questions bothering me, I need some fresh air so I decided to go to walk around the castle once again, maybe I could explore the parts that I haven't been to since I'm not too tired yet to sleep, Baltazar also said I'm free to do what I like so maybe I'll tire myself out before I sleep.

The castle, still too magnificent made me realize that I really am in a different world, it's finally sinking that I'm no longer in a world I used to be, but then again I'm helpless now. I need to gather more information about this world and how I could return.

I decided to explore the higher levels of the castle and my feet led me to a balcony. There she was, the girl in the white dress with the long black waivy hair I saw from the garden. The moonlight was making her porcelain skin look more white as if it was glowing, I can't help but stare once again at her majestic figure. Noticing that she was no longer alone she looked around and finally landed her eyes at my direction, looking at me eye to eye.

Ocean blue eyes.

Her eyes were far more enchanting than the stars, I thought to myself once again awestruck by her beauty, then she suddenly started walking towards my direction "In your pocket." She said. Upon seeing the clueless expression from my face she spoke once again, "What's in your pocket?" She asked, as if on cue I reached out for my pocket and grabbed the item inside. It was the necklace Barbara gave me.

"Happy birthday Sebastian." The girl said smiling, it was the most beautiful smile I've ever seen.
