"Okay, deer or lions?"

"That's a weird ass question, Nini."

"Answer it please..."

Tati huffs and puts her arm around me.

"Well, lions. They are so strong and the females are the cutest."

"They won't be cute if they eat your face off." I laugh in her shoulder.

"Stop laughing! My turn anyway," She takes a sip of her soda and clears her throat.

"I want some."

"Nooooo!"

"Baby pleaseee!" I whine.

"Oh my god, bro, I can't stand you." She hands me the bottle and I take a sip.

"Ahhhh," I say dramatically.

Tati rolls her eyes and takes the bottle back.

"So, girls or guys?"

"Nope, I'm not falling for this one."

"Please! I won't judge I promise."

"I told you, Tati, I don't know. I love you but I'm still trying to figure myself out. I'm only 16."

"Oh, aight. Imma get my answer soon though, right?"

"Yes, babe, you're getting your answer soon." I lie.

She scans my face for any hint of a lie, but I put my poker face on. I've been working on it since I have Ms. "I Can See A Lie" as my girlfriend.

"Tyrone's party is at 7. Walk me home please?"

"But we chillin'! At the park! With nature!" Tati throws her hands up.

"Well, I wanna look good for the pawty. The new girl ain't going to a pawty wit out lookin' good," I try to copy Tati's New York accent that I still don't have yet. Maybe it only comes out when I'm mad, like Imani.

"Whatever. And I don't sound like that."

"Yes you do, T."

"Okay, fine, we can leave now. But I get to pick out your outfit!" Tati exclaims as she jumps up out of her seat.

"No. Nononononono-"

"Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes." Tati kisses my cheek and I melt.

I give her my stank eye because she knows what she's doing when she kisses me.

"Come on now."

"Okay, ugly."

We walk out of the park and to the train station. It's pretty quiet for only 5 PM. The street lights are flickering on as we hold hands and continue down the sidewalk. When we get to the station, Tati takes her Metro Card out and swipes me to the other side.

"You need a Metro Card, I gotta use this for school."

"Hush, I'm your girlfriend, now shower me in love and appreciation," I say with my arms out as she swipes her card. She walks past the metal bar.

"Fine," She kisses both of cheeks and then my lips.

"Yay!" I skip down the stairs and onto the train. Tati follows behind me.

"Stand clear of the closing doors, please. Bee doo!" I mock the voice that comes on, even the closing door sound. I'm extra playful since I get to hang out with my favorite person in the whole world.

"You've been in New York wayyyy too long."

"Hush up and sit with me." I pat the seat next to me and she slumps into it.
