"SO LET ME GET THIS straight," Blaise said, elegantly leading Lin away from a certain blond. "You two just basically fuck the whole time?"
"No, when you put it like that you make me sound like a filthy whore." Lin whined, not noticing Luna as she trailed behind Blaise.
"My apologies then. Let me rephrase, how did this happen?"
"It all began at the Yule Ball. I went with Theodore, something Gregory didn't take that well. Especially after he saw us kiss. Last year, we of course joined Dolores and yet again he was not okay with that. I thought it was because he disliked Theodore, that's until Gregory kissed me. And this year, right at the beginning of the year, I fell on top of him, kissing him in the process." Blaise wiggled his eyebrows at Lin and she blushed. "Accidentally of course!" She chuckled. "And then, well I realized that I loved him and well, you know what happens next."
Blaise chuckled, drinking in her appearance for what seemed like the tenth time that evening. Lin had a black dress on, one Blaise was sure will send Goyle into a frenzy. She looked breathtakingly beautiful. It stopped above her knees, and the upper part was skin tight. Blaise could imagine Goyle running his hands down her back, slowly undressing her. He swallowed hard, imagining his own hands roaming her milky white body. Blaise shook his head, what was he thinking? She was his friend, possibly his best friend at the moment.
"I've heard rumors." Lin sighed. She just knew he was going to ask.
"Everyone wants to know if we've fucked on the bathroom sink and the answer is yes. Happy now best friend?" Blaise chuckled, yet again drinking in her appearance, trying to rid the fantasies from invading his mind. In the corner of his eye, he could see Luna head straight for them so he grabbed Lin's warm, soft hand and led her away, she was still oblivious as to why Blaise was dragging her towards the exit. Thankfully, Draco and Filch had barged in and Luna had stopped to look at them.
"The night can't be that young, can it?" Lin questioned Blaise as they slowly walked back to the common room.
"No, but Goyle will murder me." Blaise said, chuckling when Lin shook her head.
"He wouldn't mind us talking, after all, we are just friends aren't we?" Lin asked with a brow raised. "The Black Lake seems like the perfect place to talk."
"How would we even-" He didn't get the chance to finish his sentence, for Lin dragged him down the deserted hall, grabbing his hand tightly and he couldn't help but notice the difference between their skin. Lin's skin was milky, and soft while his was dark, less soft.
Blaise shook his head when they sat together on the shores of the Black Lake, Lin's head on his shoulder. Goyle was one lucky bastard.
"Blaise? Do you truly love your mother?" Lin asked him and Blaise stiffened.
"It's complicated Lin." He had sighed. "She's ruthless, vile and angry all the time. She hardly ever notices me." He sighed again.
"My aunt was the same, though after we found out that I inherited something from her, it all changed." Lin threw a rock at the Black Lake and watched as it skidded on the water and sunk in. "Don't you think it'd be a good idea to talk to her?"
Blaise shook his head, though Lin couldn't see it. "I don't think she ever planned to have me, you know."
"Blimey Blaise, what makes you think that?"
"She said it to me once." Just like that, the darkness begged to be set out. It wanted to claw at Blaise's mother, it begged to kill her and Lin felt appalled at herself and the darkness.
"I'm sorry Blaise." Lin said, hugging him and Blaise stiffly hugged back.
"I've made peace with it." Blaise said and suddenly stood up. "We better hurry back to the common room."
**
For days what Blaise told her kept her up at night, though she didn't know why. Maybe the darkness understood more than she did. For starters, the darkness chose Luna as a disguise mechanism, no one could track the darkness in her, no one could truly say she was the darkness. Though Crabbe knew, and Lin wanted to know how he found out.
That's how Lin found herself Friday afternoon, dangling Crabbe over the edge of the Astronomy Tower. If there was one thing Lin loved about the darkness, it would be the enhanced strength and enhanced senses, as well as lack of emotions. It made killing, or torturing much easier.
"Who told you?" Lin calmy asked, watching as Crabbe turned red and she saw him look down before actual tears escaped his eyes.
"Luna! She told me you wanted to kill her! She's the one who told me! Oh Merlin please don't kill me Lin! I'm sorry!" Crabbe cried out and Lin sighed. Humans.
"Keep your mouth shut and I won't have to bury you somewhere in the Forbidden Forest." Crabbe immediately agreed and Lin tossed him over her shoulder, where he landed with a thud behind her. "You just somehow convince Luna that I'm normal and you won't have to die."
"I will." Crabbe said, gathering himself before whatever he ate at lunch decided to pop out his mouth and he hurled. Lin scrunched up her nose as she walked passed him.
She quietly made her way to the library, sitting in the far corner, reading a book she had grabbed from the shelves. She heard him before she could see him. Harry was breathing hard, his heart was beating fast and his steps were heavy, rushed.
"I didn't know you knew French." Harry said, not bothering to lower his voice and Lin rolled her eyes before she set the book on the wooden table.
"I don't." She lied, watching him carefully. Harry suddenly winced in pain as his fingers made their way to his scar and Lin watched as his bright green eyes went wide at the sight of blood.
"What is your deal with Luna?" He growled, ignoring the blood that was slowly trailing down his nose.
"You might want to get that checked out Harry." Lin responded and Harry curled his fingers into a fist and banged it against the table. Lin knew she would've broken it.
"You wanted to murder Luna!" He yelled, wincing more in pain and Lin shook her head.
"That wasn't me Potter." She growled, standing up and brushing past him. Harry grabbed her wrist tightly and Lin glared at him. "Let go of me." Harry refused and Lin sighed. "Let go of me Potter if you don't want to end up like your parents."
Harry let go of her, only because his scar hurt even more and he rushed out the library, blood dripping down his face and Lin smiled to herself.
