After thoroughly enjoying our "suite exploring", I did not want to leave.

"Oh come on Leo, I'm starving. We'll have a good dessert I promise",Kate enticed me with a gleam in her eyes.

That almost made me want to leave.

Mentally groaning about how the dinner would go, we left.

If I thought the view couldn't get better I was wrong. The entire lighting of the ship had magically changed in these two hours.

Pixie lights hung around in every corner. The promenade deck (a place from where you can enjoy the beauty of the oceanic vista) had a café setting, having only tables for two. These were the only lights along with the moon. No wonder the stars seemed brighter. Little lanterns cast a warm glow on the food which was laid on their respective tables. A gentle, cool breeze whisked the smell of food in my direction and that's when I realized how hungry I was.

Soft gentle music was playing in the background. Some couples were dancing in the corner. I was gently surprised to see more people than those skeleton dudes. Every one was having a pleasant time sipping their wine, eating and looking around admiring the deck. All in all the atmosphere was romantic and beautiful.

While we were soaking in this view, Bill creeped up behind us and scared the hell out of me.

Kate just giggled, " You'll never not stop doing that right?"

"Got me right Katie, Come on I'll show you where we are having our special dinner" he said with a grin.

Why we couldn't have dinner right there on the deck, I didn't know.

Needless to say the dinner was special, maybe a little too special.

Dissing all that, I realised that Kate wanted us to hit it right because after all he was her good friend. We had a normal-ish conversation. I realised he got hyped only when it came to things about Kate. And me. And of course himself.

He was 26, learned to sail a boat when he was 12 which was pretty cool and so he dedicated his life to this. He spoke about how he had always longed to be Captain and how he eventually became one. He claimed that he had the best crew and best ship in the whole blithering world. He also mentioned that he had a series of "gals" but had never found the "one". He told me that he was very popular in high school but all those pretty gals kept a distance because of Katie. And he went on and on about his extraordinary tales and the adventurous, in his words : the near death experiences, he had encountered.

The dinner which went better than I expected finally ended with a kiss for Kate and a rib cracking hug for the "lad". But I couldn't seem to stop wondering why he said what he had said.

That single line kept repeating in my head. I wanted to ask Kate but she looked so happy that the dinner went well I didn't want to disappoint her.

He definitely seemed like Kate's best friend and she had no reason to lie to me. Right?
