Darren

The sound of gunshots and loud infected groans faded as we continue to drive forward.

It has been around twenty minutes since we drove off from the convenience store and are now parked at a small neighborhood with only a few infected.

Dan had fallen asleep on Stacy's lap as we traveled up to this point. This guy had been through too much. Two days ago he witnessed her infected mother get shot by his own father and now his father is most likely dead.

In a worst case scenario, his father is now an infected and we might encounter him again. But considering he faced a Dromeas which does not aim to infect its target but to kill and probably eat them too. Just like the guy we found inside the store earlier.

May mga nakasalubong kaming mga survivors kanina but most of them are arrogant idiots that doesn't want to be bothered. We saved a group of high school students earlier from being surrounded by a horde of infected. Nagsabi lang sila ng pinakamalamig nila na thank you at umalis.

I just relaxed on the drivers seat and tried to take a short nap while Jay volunteered to guard. I opened my eyes for a bit when I heard someone from the back walking towards the front.

"Sa tingin mo..." Kirsten started. "Gaano katagal bago tayo makarating sa estasyon ng tren?"

"Probably mga dalawang araw if we're lucky" I told her. "Considering our start, we're not that lucky."

She just nodded and looked down. "I just hope everyone survives, I would do anything for all of you-"

"Us" I interrupted. "All of us. I understand what you feel Kirs but please don't exclude yourself."

Ever since her father died, she blamed herself. She blamed herself for not being able to protect her parents. And now I can feel that she would do what she can to make sure we stay alive even if it means sacrificing herself.

That's where she's wrong. I appreciate her for doing her best to save us, but that's being selfless. Hindi lang naman niya kami kailangang protektahan. Kailangan din namin siyang protektahan. Kailangan namin ang protektahan ang isa't isa.

I heard a yawn from behind, and by the looks of it, Dan and Stacy are awake. But we can still hear snoring though... "Huh?"

Dan approached the ladder and began pulling on Jay's leg. "Oy" tawag niya.

"WRAH!" sigaw ni Jay ng mahulog siya sa pagkagulat. "Ano ba naman kayo"

"Ikaw nga diyan ang natutulog sa duty" Stacy sighed, facepalming.

Napatawa nalang tuloy kami sa kanya. I then told them that we are going around Enateo University, another University in our city that is well known for being the top school for medicine. They have other courses too I think but students like us who are more on the technical side are much better off studying at Alles University.

"Be prepared for any trouble" I told them as I started to drive.

Before I could even finish announcing, Stacy continued for me.  "The campus might not be fully evacuated and infected might still be roaming around. Our best course of action is to avoid contact with anyone or anything to not waste any time and so that we could get to the train station faster"

Iba talaga itong si Stacy, she really has the essence of being a leader: brave, smart, and can motivate anyone. We all just nodded at her as we passed by the iron bar wall front of the Enateo Campus.
