Tony led me through the building that I had become painfully accustomed to for the last ten years. As we made our way down into the elevator, I couldn't help but feel butterflies in my stomach from how excited I was. When the elevator stopped, I couldn't help but stare in awe as the front doors of the building stood right in front of my face, the bright sunlight illuminating the room in a soft orange glow.
As we walked out of the building, I could feel Tony subconsciously inch closer to me as he stared wearily at all of the people in the busy streets of LA.
As he inches closer to me I grabbed his hand tightly, giving it a reassuring squeeze as to let him know that he would be okay. He returned it gently as he looked around at the large number of people who rushed passed him with a quick pace. As we continued our journey Tony eventually let go of my hand, and I was immediately taken over by a sense of cold and emptiness from where he originally held onto my hand. I continued to look around in awe, taking in how much more beautiful LA had gotten since the last time I was here. But I never took my eyes fully off of Tony.
As we walked I noticed a few different creatures along the way. Vampires with daylight rings, werewolves with moonlight necklaces and piercing yellow eyes, sirens and mermaids with seashells either in their hair or on a necklace. It was pretty wild to see all of the different creatures in LA, but it seems so much more free than it did years ago.
As we were walking some dude rudely bumped into Tony's shoulder, causing him to harshly stumble to the side and let out a small grunt. "Watch where you're going dude." He mumbled out, but the man didn't take that so lightly. He grabbed Tony and slammed him against a brick wall of the nearest building and revealed two huge fangs that came out of his mouth. The man growled at him and bared his teeth, causing Tony to whimper slightly and squeeze his eyes shut. That was enough to put me over the edge.
I grabbed the man and ripped him off of Tony with incredible strength and force. I slammed him against the wall a little ways away from Tony and gave him a glare that could kill. My red eyes were glowing even brighter than usual out of pure anger. My voice grew deeper as I spoke, "If you ever even think about hurting him again, I will not hesitate to drive a stake through your heart and watch you die." The man quickly apologized and scurried away, and it was quite amusing to watch the previously vicious vampire run for his life.
I turned my attention back to Tony and noticed him shaking and whimpering softly as tears streamed down his face. "Tony?" I asked out gently, my voice 100 times softer then it previously was. He looked up at me with big eyes filled with fear
"Promise me you won't hurt me Tayler, please."
A part of my confidence shattered that day.
