CHAPTER 5

KAEL'S ETHAN'S POV

Pasado alas sais na nang makasakay ako ng jeep pauwi. Halos isang oras din akong nag antay dahil nga punuan ang jeep pag ganitong oras. Mabuti nalang at may medyo maluwag na jeep na dumaan na naging siksikan din kalaunan.

Habang nasa byahe, naisipan kong tingnan sa phone ang to-do list ko. I lightly scratched my head when I saw three quizzes on the list. Dalawang majors which are Differential Calculus, Chemistry for Engineers at isang minor which is Panitikang Pilipino na feeling major.

I felt my phone vibrated so I checked my notifications and saw a chat from my cousin Alexandra. Ano na naman kaya ang kailangan nito?

Alexandra: Hoy pakibilhan ako ng mga to please: 1 White cartolina, 2 1/8 illustration board, 1 ream long bond paper, ruler at eraser. Bayaran nalang kita mamaya :)

Napakamot na naman ako ng ulo ulit nang mabasa ko ang chat n'ya

Kael: Nakasakay na ko ng jeep. Bukas mo nalang bilhin yan

I decided to scroll through my to-do list again but my phone kept on vibrating and vibrating dahil nga chat ng chat ang pinsan kong abnormal so I opened her chats again

Alexandra: Sige na please. Kaiangang kailangan kasi bukas na yung deadline hoy

Asan ka na ba?

May grocery store naman na madadaanan pauwi diba?

Hoy bilhan mo na kasi ako

HOY ISEEN MO PLEASE!!!

Babayaran naman kita mamaya
HOY AYOKO BUMAGSAK MAJORS TO KAEL

Aba't nagsend pa talaga ng selfie na nakabusangot ang mukha, napaka walang hiya. Maka hoy tong pinsan ko akala mo kung sino. Pag ito di ko binilhan ng kailangan nya tingnan natin kung di to umiyak.

Kael: Oo na

Alexandra: YEYY! THANK YOUU

Napa irap ako ng mata at bumalik sa pagiscroll sa facebook ko. Matapos ang ilang minuto napagpasyahan kong itago nalang muna ang phone ko dahil hindi naman ako mahilig mag facebook at malapit nang maubos ang battery ng phone ko.

The jeepney passengers started to decrease making it more comfortable. Also, the traffic became more bearable, it's not that heavy now. It's quarter to seven so it's already dark and the lights looked chaotic but I find it soothing along with the cold blow of wind. Just a few more minutes at makakababa narin ako ng jeep.

I shifted my gaze to look around the jeepney and for a while, I find myself having a hard time taking my eyes off the familiar girl on the other end of the jeepney. Her long soft curls are being blown by the wind and her eyes are smiling along with her chubby cheeks, flashed with cool-toned jeepney lights. She looked so calm and peaceful.

Muli akong napatingin sa daan. Malapit nalang pala ako sa bababaan ko.

"Kuya para po sa may grocery store po" I modulated my voice a bit making sure the driver hears it.

I took a short glance on the girl. How I wish my eyes never landed on her. Not because I don't like how she looks but because staring at her is something that's just so hard to stop myself from.

I felt the jeepney stop kaya agad naman akong bumaba. Instantly smelling the vehicle smoke upon going down the jeepney, I immediately took my handkerchief to cover my nose. Maingat akong tumawid papuntang grocery store. At nang makarating ako sa tapat, agad naman akong pumasok.
