WIN
Dragging my trolley bag against the concrete floor while lifting a box with my left hand is not an easy task, especially, since I do not have a bulky physique. It is hard enough not to drop the heavy box with my wobbling arms, but I also need to maintain my balance from the weight differences that I’m carrying.
When I arrive in front of my dorm room, I snatch the key in my right pocket and open the door. The room is less spacious compared to my old apartment room, but it was bearable. It has a single window and peering through it will give me the view of the school football field. The campus dorm is located at the far corner of the University which is adjacent to the school field, and that’s a good thing since the lack of infrastructures nearby gives it a decent breeze for relaxation. The room has three doors, one leading outside the room, one for the bathroom, and the other for the balcony.
This is my first time in the school dormitory since I stayed at my apartment room since freshman year, but after realizing that my schedule is crammed with major subjects I decided to move here for convenience. It will not only be good with regards to attendance and tardiness, it will also be easier to focus since the school dorm has strict curfew policy giving me an excuse to not stay out late with friends.
A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts and as I open it, Gulf pushed his way inside.
“I told you that I’ll help you move to your dorm room. Why didn’t you wait for me?” Gulf asks looking at me with dismay.
“I’m sorry, okay. I thought you were busy playing football and I don’t want to bother you.”
“You know you can bother me anytime, right? I even went to your old apartment room but you already took your stuff. You could’ve given me a call before coming here.” Gulf then lifts the plastic bag that he’s holding and starts to grin, “And since it’s your first day at the dorm I brought some pizza and cola to celebrate”.
“What’s there to celebrate? Moving at the dorm is not a big deal, but thanks for the thought anyway”.
We decided to clean up first before eating. Gulf starts to unload the box of my belongings and arranges my things around my room as I unpack my bag and arrange my clothes in the closet.
It was a good thing Gulf is here, cleaning the room is easier. Unlike from his somewhat unapproachable demeanor, Gulf is actually a sweet guy. He cares about the people around him which give me a sense of comfort and ease whenever he’s around. Although he has a bad temper at times, but he doesn’t get angry for no reason.
After we finished cleaning, it was already past 8.
Gulf and I are sitting on the floor of my dorm room with a box of pizza between us. I reach for the plastic bag that he brought when he came here and takes out the rest of its contents. It was beer, which is contrary to what he said a while ago.
“You told me you brought cola.” I tell him in a cold manner. I glare at him as he smiles sheepishly towards me.
“Is it? I wasn’t looking at the brand when I brought those. It’s not intentional.”
But of course, it was intentional. His grin says it all and knowing Gulf he will definitely do this kind of thing.
“Why did you buy these anyway?” I ask him hinting that I’m not buying his excuse. I toss a can of beer towards him which hit him squarely in the chest.
He squints as he acts as though he’s hurt; his grin still etched on his face. “I told you, to celebrate. This is like a housewarming party except it’s a dorm room” he reaches for two slices of pizza and piled them on top of one another like a sandwich. “How did you get this room for yourself anyway? Don’t you need to share this with a roommate?”
