As we pulled into the docks, a paramedic boat stood out among the crowd of people watching whoever was on it.

"What is that?" Kie nodded her head over to the body being lifted out of the crowd.

"Thats a body." John replied while JJ quickly tied the boat down to the dock. We quickly stepped off trying to be inconspicuous as possible, but watching from a safe distance. I watched JJ fumble w the gun in his shorts.

"Quit it- you're fine." I whispered next to him. He nodded nervously. I had never seen him with such a worried look on his face before. He had to be paranoid.

"There gonna see." He whispered back, standing behind Kie and I.

"Not if you stop fucking with it." I whispered back, "stand behind me."

"Ok-ok." He muttered under his breath.

"Guys, we should leave." John spoke, his eyes never leaving the body that was being pulled closer to where we stood, amongst the group of people. "That's Scooter Grubs"

The body of Scooter came into clear view. A woman of hispanic descent ran off, pushing through people until her hands rested on the head of the corpse. She was sobbing incoherently holding on with her life.

"What happened?" Kie asked, inviting a short, blonde standing near us to chime in. "Look at these pictures I got- insane right. Somehow that dirtbag copped a Grady-White."

"The Grady-White" Kie mouthed to me.

I turned to watch them cart the body off into an ambulance, the woman from before still crying out loud, reaching for the touch of anyone. I couldn't imagine how awful his death could've been. Drowning? The storm? Something more sinister? after watching the police take the money today I wondered what else they had been covering up. Kie wrapped her arm around mine when she noticed me staring behind us, pulling me into step with her as we walked in a group towards John's house.

By dinner time, we had concluded that the money would stay with JJ. After exploring the options of how a man as poor as Scooter could've ended up with a safe full of cash and a gun, let alone the Grady White, we were just as confused as we had been once the conversation had started.

"All I'm saying- they could come looking for it. It's catastrophically stupid." Pope finished giving us his two cents.

"Stupid things have a good outcome, most of the time." I chimed in, JJ laughing as he spread out the bills in front of his face, covering a smile towards Pope. "But we do need to figure out how to get into the cargo hold of the wreck."

Pope gave in and lost the serious face.

"We need to lay low, be normal." JJ finished.

"As if." Jie chimed in, earning a frown from the blonde boy.

"-And how do we do that?" Pope asked.

"Kegger?" Kie asked, looking around for any signs of disapproval.

I smiled, finally something I could get behind.

"Welcome our new little pougey." John smiled, making fun of me.

"Don't use me as an excuse for you to get drunk." I laughed, flipping him off.

"Oooo." JJ let out air, knowing I had won the argument.

"Tav and I have to go home first." Kie stated, I grew alert at the sound of my name.

"We do?" I asked, watching her stand.
