Elizabeth's POV:

I'm so mad dad made us move here. Why did he have to find a better job in LA? I was doing just fine in New York. Ugh. School starts tomorrow and I'm not excited for it at all. What if I don't make new friends? What if I loose my old friends back in New York. I mean, I did loose my boyfriend. We both think or should I say he thinks that long-distance relationships don't work. What if long-distance friends don't work out either. Anyway Mom said that we should go to the bubble tea shop right down the street. She knows how mad I am for moving here but also knows I love bubble tea. The only thing I'm happy about right now is that I have a huge room + a walk-in closet and my own bathroom. Back at home, we had a normal house. Not too big but not too small either. Now we live in the rich neighborhood of Los Angeles. All the houses around us are really big. I didn't finish putting away all my things yet since we only moved in yesterday. All this is going way too fast. I think my mom's right with the whole bubble tea idea.

...

Mom and I are at Bubble Tea Express. It's really nicely decorated. When we walk in, mom looks around and tells me

"Eli this place is so cool! I'm sure all the teenagers hangout here. You could hangout here with your new friends from school that you're going to make tomorrow..."

"Thanks mom."

Mom has always been the 'cool mom'. Or at least she tries to be. She is literally my best friend. We get along well and I love her very much. After a long time deciding what to get, I decide to get boba. A very original choice I know... Mom gets something weird, it doesn't look very good so I don't even want to know. We then pick a table and sit face to face. She looks like she has bad news to tell me. Mom always bites her bottom lip when that's the case.

"Oh honey I forgot to tell you, the school you're going to tomorrow is...a private school."

"So I'll have to wear a uniform?" I say, sounding very sad.

"Yes, I neatly folded it in your clothing pile that you have yet to put away."

"Ok mom." I say with a fake smile.

How can this be happening to me? First of all I move to LA, second of all I loose my boyfriend, third I have to wear a uniform? This day cannot get any worse. The only thing cheering me up is my boba. Damn it's good.

After a few sips, some kids my age walk in. I count at least 5 girls and 3 guys. Omg! The guys are tiktok stars! There in the middle is Kio Cyr. To his left is Jaden Hossler and to his right is Josh Richards. I am freaking out to the point that I can't move my body. My mom just stares at them like they're normal people. She can't know that they're celebrities. If she does, she'll freak out like I am right now. The group just walks towards the counter. Some go order and some go and try to find seats. I try to keep my cool by taking a few more sips but my mom interrupts me.

"Eli, these boys are so cute! You should go talk to one."

"Mom stop I am not going to do that." I say with an annoyed tone.

Behind me, I hear girls who probably overheard my mom and are laughing. I hate them already. The people who got their drinks walk past me to go see their friends at the table. Kio is one of them. When he walked past me he looked at me. Down and up. He then smirked. Ummm did Kio just do his famous look to me? He saw me at my worst. I look ugly right now. I have a high messy bun and am only wearing mascara for makeup. I've never been a huge makeup wearer. All I wear is natural makeup cause I feel like that suits me best. I am also wearing a tight cropped t-shirt that I bought at Brandy Melville back at home. I paired that with grey sweatpants that belonged to Corey, my old boyfriend. My mom, who saw the whole thing says:

"Eli! That guy just looked at you! He probably finds you very beautiful. I mean who wouldn't. You are in fact very pretty. I can't wait till he becomes your boyfriend. He'll come to our house and you'll keep the door shut when dad told you to keep it open. Oh my, this is so exciting!"

I'm looking at my mom like I've just seen a ghost. What is she saying? Luckily she said it very quietly so that only I could hear that. Thank god.

"Mom stop. A guy looks at me and you become all crazy. He just looked at me that's all. I'm sure he checks out a lot of other girls too. I mean it's Kio." Oh shit. I said too much. Mom looks confused and says:

"Who's Kio? Is it the guy? Wait do you know him? Is he a celebrity?"

Im just very annoyed at this point. My mom is pissing me off a little. I have to tell her something so that she doesn't make a big deal out of it.

"Oh uhhhh...I was saying it in a sarcastic way like if I knew him because I heard a guy say his name earlier. Haha"

That was not the best answer ever but not the worst. Mom looks like she doesn't think much of my response. I really want to get out of here before these people judge me even more.

"Mom can we like take our drinks and drink them on the way home? I really want to finish putting away all my things before school starts."

Mom replies with a typical "Sure honey, whatever makes you happy."

I know she's trying her best to help me like it here but it's hard. I miss everything over there.
