It was a Saturday. I took the time to clean the house and mop the floors giving the house a nice clean smell. I sat on the couch with a big red bowl of pop corn watching Pretty Little Lairs. Mom was out for business and dad was out once again searching for a job ( the man could never hold down a job to save his sorry life). It was only me and Boots today. Yeah Boots is my cat.
By the 11 o'clock hour I heard the door bell ring. My head whipped around towards the door not excepting anyone over. Then it struck me, Neighbors. The last neighbors we had were extremely rude and never kept quiet. But by the look of the neighborhood I think these new neighbors will be different.
I stood placing the popcorn bowl down and proceed to answer the door. Opening the door I see an elderly woman with white blondish hair, wearing a purple shirt, and starched jeans and brown sandals holding a glass pan in her hand with aluminum foil over it. She gave me a warming smile,"Hello dear. I just came to welcome you to the neighborhood" she held out the pan to me,"I made you this apple pie" I took it smiling widely thinking. How could she have known I've been craving this pie for a while now since we've moved in.
"Thank you so much, Ms..."I paused from not knowing her name.
"Hall," she completed my sentence,"you can just call me Mrs. Hall"
"Thank you Mrs. Hall,"I said and stepped back into the house,"oh uh where do you live so I know where to return the dish to?"
Mrs. Hall turned and pointed to the house two doors over,"that house right there" I looked to where she was pointing and saw that where she was pointing was too where I so that boy come out at,"you may have see my grandson, Alex. He's about the same age as you."
"Well I'm only 16," I told her
"He just turned 18 back in April," she clamped her hands together. I gave her a simple head nodded wondering why old people ways had to share unwanted information. I didn't ask for when his birth month was.
"Well Ms. Moon I shall be going," she turned stepping down off the porch. Wait did she just call me Ms. Moon? I hate my last name it sounds like an ass.
"Nice meeting you too, Mrs. Hall,"I said waved to her.
"Oh and dear me and my grandson will having dinner on next Friday you and your family are more than welcomed to come." She said lastly before walking down the said walk
"Okay," I shut the door thinking, dinner Friday with normal people and my family. That's not going to go too well.
I went to the kitchen placing the pie down taking the aluminum off smelling the aroma it gave off. The smell so sweet it made my mouth water to the point were it felt like I was drooling with my mouth shut. Staring at the golden crash and the apples glicening through the small holes. I grabbed a knife and a plate to cut myself a nice sized piece. The pie was still warm which only made things better for me.
Taking a seat at the table I raised my fork and took the first bite of what Ive been craving for. The looks didn't not deceive me. The pie tasted as good as it smelled.
The front door opened and I looked over to see dad stepping in and closing the door behind himself. I rose up from my chair after taking the last bite of the crust, and went into the kitchen placing my dirty dishes into the sink.
Dad walked into the kitchen seeing the pie,"you make this?" He asked pointing at the pie with his index finger.
"No the neighbor brought it over as a welcoming gift,"I rinsed the plate and fork off so it will be easier for me to wash it later.
"Smells great," he grabbed another knife and cut himself a hunk out of the pie leaving 1/2 of it left. Really dad I wanted to make this pie last!!
I shook my head and went upstairs Not wanting to be bother with his boring tells of what happened on his way to the job interview. Boots tagged along with me going to my room.
I went over to my dresser taking a look in the mirror fixing my messy bun. Even though I had long straight black hair I never actually worn it down. And besides the guys back at home loved my messy bun and hopefully the guys here like it too.

Later on that night mom came in the house fussing about the boxes in the garage. All I could here from downstairs was,"get your fat ass up and go unpack the stuff. I've been home all day and you and that girl of ours has been here just about all day. And not one thing is done." She yelled at the top of her lungs.
I raised an eyebrow confused at the fact she didn't notice I cleaned up all the plastic and bubble wrap out the floor and mopped and along with that dusted!! Mom seriously just stop and take a chill pill.
Up the stairs I could hear her heavy foot steps. She sounded like a ogre on the search for food, bursting through my door I saw her at my door way,"get up and get my kitchen clean, little girl" her face was red and her hair was a mess. It was really nothing new for her this is what she always looked like coming home.
"Do you not hear me girl I said get up!" She shouted once again. Her hazed eyes growing bigger by the second.
"I'm going Im going,"I took Boots out my lap and moved to the edge of my bed slipping on my house shoes and went to go wash the dishes.
I spent 10 minutes washing and putting away 2 knives, a plate, and a fork. Is that really something to bitch about? No. I didn't think so. Once I was done I went to my cozy and comfortable room closing the door. Out the window I could see Mrs. Hall's home. I saw the door open and out came two boys standing under the porch light talking. I tried so hard to get a good look at their faces but they were too far away. I closed my curtains and get to bed thinking of the possible ways to tell my parents we were invited to dinner.
