Kassie woke up on her own that day. it was around 10:30 in the morning. Crap! She was going to be late for getting ready for university! Wait. Something wasn't right. At all. It wasn't the feeling of sadness, it was more of dread. Why was it quiet downstairs? She slowly turned off her bed, gripping the scissors that she had used to do some arts and crafts the other night as she made her way downstairs. If something was going to happen then it was going to be now. Kassie looked around the corner of the banister, then seeing a note on the dining table with her mothers writing on it. Thank god. Nothing had happened to them. Although she was mad at them for not telling what they were obviously hiding from her, she would like them to be alive as she still loved them both. She picked up the note her mother had left, reading it carefully.

'To Kassie, we have just gone out for a couple of days for an emergency call that was said to be in Los Angeles, we'll presumably be gone until Monday (three days), for now just do what you want. Just DONT go to uni. Do you hear me? We've contacted your university and are alright with it. I hope that I find out that you stayed at home in the time we have gone or else there WILL be trouble. The cupboards are stocked with food and  there are some new movies that have been downloaded. I'll see you on Monday.-Mum and Dad'

Well. That letter couldnt have been any more suspicious than it could be. Why did she give a big warning not to go outside? That was a big question. Wouldn't she be safer outside, were civilisation could help her if anything happened? Now she was just glad that they were okay and that she didnt have to go to school. Although, she probably would have to on Monday.

For the rest of the day she lay on the sofa, binge-whatching her favourite shows as she ate some sweets. But she did also eat some proper food aswell like cereal. Kassie had decieded that she was going to start her investigation in the night, it made it more creepier and it also went quiet at that time since her neighbours constantly blasted music in the day. It had started to rain through the past couple of hours, and it had turned increasingly cold so she had her fleeced onezie on and a blanket to double it up so she felt like it was a normal day. But. She still had that same deep feeling, feeling like a weight was on her shoulders, like her body was just awaiting the moment to die and give up. Kassie really didn't like that feeling. It made her feel extremely uncomfortable, enough to make her curl up into a ball and cry for a bit. It kind of made her feel like she shouldn't search for the answer to why she couldn't, or wasn't allowed to go outside.

A few hours later, she got up and off the sofa, out of the comfy warmth of the blanket as she went upstairs, getting changed into some warm but outside kind of clothes, consisting of a black top with some black jeans and a black hoodie, she put her scissors into her pocket aswell. Kassie planned on going outside later that night, weather her parents liked it or not. She started investigating from the kitchen, looking for anything out of the ordinary, seeing if any handles on the cupboards went down, or if there were any secret doors. She did eventually find one, in fact, a very big one. Since they had an island type of table in the kitchen she had tried wiping it with a towel all around it as she noticed a door type of frame inside f it when she did so. Kassie had found a jackpot. She was about to open it, until she heard a smash of glass coming from the livingroom.

"Hello?"

Kassie called out stupidly, then quickly but quietly grabbing a knife from its holder when she heard out a laugh coming from a much more closer distance.
