I never thought I'd find myself in this situation.

I stood tall, chin up, and my arms behind me. I kept my eyes in front of me. Javier walked with his manager and some men around him. I couldn't keep my stare still and I finally broke, taking a glance at him. Then, our eyes met.

Let me take you back to the hour prior.

I started my day by not taking my car to the foundation center but more rather a clinic where I would start my job as a Real Madrid doctor. I drove into the parking lot, catching the sight of Carlos Ancelloti. I climbed out of my car and headed to him. I assumed he was waiting to meet me and explain what was going to happen. I held onto my black purse tightly, hoping my slight expression of fear wouldn't show through.

"Good morning Mayastina Lopez," the Italian manager smiled.

"Pleasure to meet you Ancelloti." I smiled, extending my hand to him.

He grabbed my hand, "Likewise. Shall I give you a tour?"

"Thank you, I'd appreciate it." I followed Ancelloti inside the clinic. He was greeted by the whole staff like he was top dog. He must've controlled everything.

"You see, our clinic is based on a strong relationship between coworkers. You'll have to get along with everyone. Trust is another important thing. Hopefully you'll fit in just nicely." He went onto ramble about the history of Real Madrid. I was slightly interested in what he had to say but I was distracted by how the atmosphere seemed pleasant. Everything ran smoothly. God please don't make me screw anything up.

"Mayastina, I'm putting all my trust into you as the leading doctor here." He suddenly said, stopping in his tracks.

"Lead doctor?" I choked out.

"You would be the maturist person in this whole clinic besides me. All these people are interns. I'm hoping after your loan, I might plan to keep you as Real Madrid's personal doctor." He laughed at the last bit. I nervously laughed as well. He patted my back, "Well here's your coat and name tag, we have a special visitor today and he's all yours. Don't mess it up." He laughed again and walked off.

Right. I slid the coat on and pinned the name tag on. I stood in the middle of the clinic as people passed by me. A woman came up to me and directed me to the office where I would work at. She kindly gave me the report on the patient I would have today.

I kindly thanked her and walked to my office. I closed the door behind and opened the folder. I suddenly started choking on my own saliva. I threw the folder onto the desk and rubbed my face. This couldn't possibly be. God fucking hates me like always. Por qué dios...

I took a deep breath and hung my head low. Forget about him. Forget about him. Forget about him. He's just another patient. He was just a phase. Just a fling. Just a memory.

With that in mind, I relaxed a little.

After thirty minutes of checking the folder, I was summoned by the other workers to line out in the hallway. I didn't know what was going on. I followed what everyone else did. I found myself between two girls by the name of Angel and Caitlin.

The front doors suddenly opened and I knew I was prepared. I was definitely prepared.

Now that brings us back to the present moment.

My heart started beating faster and faster. I started sweating everywhere and what I thought I had control over was uncontrollably failing.

Then what happened next shattered my heart into millions of pieces. My heart broke like glass with no way of repair.

He looked away like I was nothing. Like I was a stranger in his eyes.

As soon as he walked by, the breath I was holding in finally released. I held my hand over my chest because it wouldn't stop hurting.

Stop it Maya! Damn it, I said stop!

It took every last bit of me to keep myself from breaking down. But I prevailed.

I held my chin up and followed my patient.

I walked inside the room. I was greeted by the manager. I smiled, keeping my eyes locked on the manager only while Javier was sitting on the bed.

"Good morning, I'm here to check Hernandez. I'm Doctor Lopez."

"You look rather familiar..." He muttered.

"I get that all the time." I forced out a laugh and made my way over to Javier. "How was your morning Mr. Hernandez?"

"Good, thank you," he replied.

Feeling a little disappointed, I swallowed hard. I finished checking his blood pressure and now I was onto the next part. I grabbed a light and opened his eye. It was a little awkward. I breathed, "Now please unbutton your shirt so I could check your heart rate." I grabbed the new tool while he unbutton his top. I placed the metal part over his heart and listened closely. It was beating fast.

"Take a few deep breaths for me please." He did as he was told and his heart slowly started getting calmer.

"Alright, I think we're all done. There's There's a nurse that will be coming in to take some blood for a few tests. It was nice seeing you...again." I mumble the last part before I left.

"Thanks for the checkup, Maya." He yelled to me.

I faked a smile and turned around, "No problem Javier."
