Nancy was shocked. She was cold. She was trying to wave out and at the same moment trying to hold the ice. She had lost her voice for a second. She then screamed for help. No one had noticed her as everyone was sitting at the end of the pond near the benches. Ned realised that Nancy was no where around. He soon heard the cries and he thought it was Nancy’s so he rushed towards the shrieks.

There was Nancy struggling to come out. Ned helped her out by calling people to rescue her. Nancy was soon out of the water and on a dry area. She felt cold and numb. Bess was trying to keep her warm. Ned had a sweater which he wrapped around Nancy.

She explained to her both friends that there she could hear a muffled cry. So she had gone to rescue the person in danger. Bess thought hard and told "Maybe Nancy was hurt on purpose.”        Ned agreed with her and told that he would check the spot where Nancy had fallen. He told both of them to wait at Nancy’s place. Bess took her into the car and switched on the heater. She drove to Nancy’s house. Nancy felt better and warm. Ned was also there. He had taken a short cut and reached before Nancy and Bess. Nancy went to unlock the door when she saw a note was stuck on to the wooden door with a dagger. It was in an ancient writing. It read:

Darling Nancy, leave this case as soon as possible or you will be sorry for it.

By the way the ice part was just a scare if you don’t listen to me you are challenging death.

Bess gasped on reading the note and went over and over it. Nancy could not recognise the writing was it as it was printed.  They went in and thought over the matter. Nancy came up with an idea. They all would pretend to sleep and if the attacker came they could catch him or her. They all went up to rooms while Nancy pretended to sleep on the couch. She was hoping to find the intruder and give one more note. After an hour Nancy dosed off to sleep.

She was awakening by the sound of pans.  She saw a person dressed in complete black beside the refrigerator. Nancy got up quickly the intruder started running away. Nancy chased her till the ground but she was too fast for her. Nancy was sure this intruder must have left a note. She had seen the intruder had blue eyes and was wearing pretty pink sandals. Nancy noticed that it was a woman who had come as her hair was tied in a high pony and she was having her nails painted pink and black.  Her sandals were just like the ones Christie had, Nancy thought.

She called Ned and Bess and told them about the woman. She described her. Bess suddenly realised about the note. She asked Nancy “Did you check the note?  Let’s look at it.” They all went near the fridge where Nancy had spotted the lady. They saw a note written and kept on the fridge. Nancy picked it up and read it out aloud. It said

Oh Nancy I am leaving by tomorrow. My work is done. Thanks for the corporation by the way!!

Nancy did not understand first. She thought and then she got it. It meant that the thief was leaving tomorrow as she had got the antiques that she had stolen. Nancy thought hard. She had very less time. She needed to do something really quick. Nancy took Bess with her to Needle and Thread while she told Ned to stay there.

Nancy drove quick they wanted to search the shop once more. But, then Bess realised she had forgotten the keys. So, they were driving back when Nancy saw a girl dressed in black entering the house. Her hair was tied back in a ponytail she had crystal blue eyes. Nancy pointed out the woman to Bess. they both entered the kitchen quitely and picked up a pan in the kitchen and went behind her they both were having pans in their hands.  Ned saw both of them and screamed a shrill “Nooooooooooo!!!” Suddenly the woman turned around and found two girls having pans in their hands and ready to attack her.

She quickly told “Uh…Hello, I am Ms Sarah Jones. I am a police officer here to help you with a case.” She was very nervous with her introduction. So Nancy was not willing to accept that she was a police officer. Nancy asked Ned to catch the pan. Before Ned could say anything Nancy picked up the phone and dialled Jenks' number.

There was a deep voice saying "Hello." nancy said "Hello. I wanted to---" her voice was cut by Jenks' sentence. he said "Oh! nancy I was about to call you. There is a lady officer come to your place for help." Nancy looked at Ms Jones and said "Yeah I met her. I need to go right now. I will talk to you later." And they hung up. Nancy looked at Ms Jones and apologised to her. Nancy asked Ms Jones to sit.

She started talking at once. “I am here to help you with the mystery of the antiques. The thief is a girl having black hair and pale blue eyes.  She is working in a mall. She has taken the clothes of an Indian princess. She is working in a store of clothes. I just can't remember the name. It starts with N I suppose and…” Ms Jones could not complete her sentence because Nancy shrieked   with joy but a bit disappointed “I think I know who the thief is!!!!”
