--Back to Present Day--
"What a crazy story, no less ending with you abruptly dating that dude so quickly."
I was still a little in disbelief at that all too convenient ending. Either she's hiding the embarrassing, possibly not PG-13 aspects from me, or someone's being lazy at storyteller.
"Well, technically I was already dating him..." (Ayamoto)
"But I thought that you only officially date people after the first few "dates"
Or is that a millennial thing? I mean, I can't even imagine anyone getting married on a first date these days. Was finding a romantic partner so easy back in the days?"
"How should I know? My hubby's the first and last man I've dated. Though in that aspect, I guess it was easy for me to find a partner..."
"Huh, perhaps so. Or maybe you're just luck. But you know the story you just told me? It seriously reminds me of your daughter – Amane really takes up after you." (Haruto)
Ayamoto's face contorted in ire at that remark. Uh oh... was I a little too blunt?
"How did you get to that conclusion?" (Ayamoto)
"You're both rash. Moody. Impulsive. Violent towards men."
"But my husband likes it that way...."
"I'm not saying it's a bad thing....it's just.....seriously? Sleeping over at a random dude's home and hoping it'll work? Really? Even if that was your first date? I sometimes wonder what you and your daughter is thinking, although you ladies have the best of luck."
Even though those words just slipped out of my mouth like water, perhaps I stepped a little past my boundaries.
Scratch that, I said something way out of line. Evidence? The 1-second-before-Judgement-day look on Ayamoto's face.
"....Has my daughter ever stayed over at a guy's house before?"
The air was almost electric all of the sudden; goosebumps rose on my arms. In that instance, I knew. The only way to get out of this mess before it spiraled out of control was to use turn my "super-smooth talker" mode to save myself!
"Oh, yeah, you know that time when me and Amane ran away from school for a couple of days? In that time...."
I honestly had no time to finish my sentence as I was viciously tackled by an angered momma bear. Oh well, whatever. I admit i was never a suave man anyways.
"WHAT? WHATDIDYOUDOTOMYDAUGHTER" (Ayamoto)
"Ow ow ow ow!......please stop straddling me🙏" (Haruto)
Ayamoto suddenly looked alarmed, and realized what a compromising position she was in.
"Ah! Sorry!"
Face flushed red, Ayamoto hurriedly got off of me, releasing that iron grip of hers. I sputtered and coughed, my throat aching from where her hand had been a moment before. Oh well, at least she was light....I guess all the diets she did are actually working.
"Relax! Relax! Your daughter's more of a cousin to me that anything, nothing bad happened! And you daughter's way stronger than me, so you shouldn't be worried at all!
"Fair point. Truce."
Though still looking a tad peeved, Ayamoto reached her hand out to me, which I gingerly shook.
"Hey Haruto, now your turn. I want to hear about what happened with you and my daughter on that runaway trip; my daughter has been stonewalling me every time I try to ask here."
"Is that really alright? It's already 12 at night and you do realize we're still at that love hotel, right?"
"Bah, my hubby won't wake up till 1PM tomorrow if there's no one to wake him up. Come on! I assume it's going to be a long story, so hurry up before our time runs out."
"Fine, fine. Okay, it goes like this....."
And thus, another long story was told deep into the night, and carried over till the sun shone brightly...
