Shadow

Part 2

(Next morning)

Shadow was placing cups and plates into the empty cabinets in the kitchen. While Rouge was sitting at the kitchen table, typing on her laptop.

"I found an old well while I was walking around yesterday." Shadow said trying to start a conversation.

"Ugh huh." Rouge nodded.

Shadow rolled his eyes. "I almost fell in actually, I could've drowned." he said as he scratched his poison oak rash on his hand.

"That's nice hun." Rouge commented as if she was paying attention, but she wasn't.

Shadow looked out the window and saw it was still raining. He had just finished putting away the plates and cups. "Do you know where the gardening tools are? Might as well get started on the garden."

Rouge looked up from her laptop and saw the rain. "No I don't, but even if I did I wouldn't let you go out there. It's raining."

"So?"

"Rain makes mud and mud makes a mess. We just moved in, we don't need mud tracks through the house."

"I thought you said the garden was a plus when we moved here. So why don't we just get it started?" Shadow asked.

Rouge rolled her eyes. "I've got a few reasons. One, like I said, it's raining. Second, I've got too much paper work from the G.U.N to do anything else because of the accident. Otherwise I would help you with the garden."

"You act like I'm the one who broke your wing. It's not my fault you hurt it on our last mission." Shadow protested.

"I never said it was Shadow. And you still have your whole room to unpack! So get to it!" Rouge sighed.

"You need to get off this so called 'big sister' power trip. It's getting annoying." Shadow spoke as he scratched his rash again.

"Deal with it hun, cause that's what I am. Your big sister." Rouge teased as she pulled out a little cardboard box. "By the way, did you know Sonic's uncle lives around here? Sonic even stopped by while you were still asleep this morning. He told me to give this to you."

Shadow gave a confused face and opened the box. It had a letter in it. It reads:

"Hey Shads! Look what I found hidden in my uncle Chucks stuff! Look familiar? Hope you like it, Love Sonic"

Shadow rolled his eyes and took another look inside the box. This was inside:

He raised his brow, and pulled out the doll. "A creepy doll that looks like me?" He said.

Rouge looked at the doll. "I admit that's a little creepy, but I think it's kind sweet. Maybe you two should hang out more. That will definitely be more fun than lounging around here." Rouge teased.

"What are you implying bat?"

"Maybe Sonic likes you, and maybe you should give him a chance?" Rouge said going back to her work.

Shadow looked at the doll again and blushed a little. "Whatever." He scoffed as he walked out of the kitchen.

Shadow walked down a hall and found an open door. He peeked inside and found Knuckles was typing up his work.

"I guess your too busy too." Shadow spoke.

Knuckles didn't even move.

"Hello?" Shadow called.

"What do you want Shadow?" Knuckles sighed and turned to the hedgehog. Then he saw the little doll. "What's with the creepy doll? I swear you get more weird the more time I spend with you." He spat.

"And you just get more stupid and aggravating. Anyway, have you seen the gardening tools?" Shadow rebuttals.

"Isn't it still pouring outside?" Knuckles asked.

"It's just raining."

"What did the bat say?"

"Too much, but it all added up to: Don't even think about it Shadow the hedgehog! I'm your big sister and you'll do whatever I say!" Shadow mimicked Rouge's voice.

"Then you won't need the gardening tools." Knuckles replied.

"Are you kidding me? I thought you didn't care what she said!" Shadow exclaimed.

"That was until she got me this job and I hate her nagging even more. So you're not getting the tools." Knuckles explained as he went back to work.

Shadow just sighed in annoyance and gave the echidna a glare. But he stayed there just looking around Knuckles room.

"Look, I've got to finish this so go away and find something to do." Knuckles said.

"Like what?" Shadow scoffed.

"I don't know, explore the house, count how many windows there are, or even play with your creepy doll. I don't care! Just leave me alone and let me work!" Knuckles replied with an annoyed looked.

Shadow rolled his eyes once more and left the room with his doll twin in his hands.
