March 10, 2011: Plans are Hatching
Troy sighed, awkwardly placing his game controller in his lap. "Hey Abed, do you wanna take a little break from playing?"
Abed threw him a suspicious sideways sort of look, lowering his controller dramatically. "Why?"
"Oh- no reason," Troy stammered. "I just thought we could maybe talk about how it's going with Benny. You know, some boy talk about girls."
"Why do you care?"
"Oh, well, I just heard from Shirley and Annie that you seemed excited about talking to her. It's been a while and you still haven't done anything, I was just wondering... you know... if you were having second thoughts?"
"No," Abed replied, curtly, grabbing his controller and continuing to play the game. "I just haven't been able to decide the super-cool movie reunion scene I should use for inspiration. None of them seem good enough. I was thinking Forrest Gump so I could yell 'Ben-nay', but I don't know how I would get her to the Washington monument without suspecting something."
Troy picked up his controller and began half-heartedly pressing the buttons, angrily muttering, "Well, maybe it's a sign."
"Of what?"
"Maybe she doesn't fit into your storyline," Troy snapped, becoming more aggressive with his button-pushing.
"I thought you wanted us to get back together?" asked Abed, his eyebrow quirked upwards curiously.
Rambling, Troy began, "I do, I do, it's just-"
"Boys!" boomed Lukka, the boys' handsome and morally questionable friend from the Balkans.
In unison, the boys happily cheered, "Lukka!"
And with that, the discussion was forgotten, as Troy has a very short attention span and Abed didn't like where it was headed.
Who hadn't forgotten this topic of conversation, however, was Shirley and Annie. Even with the stress of having a baby on the way, Shirley was doing everything in her power to keep Benny away from Abed, and Annie was helping in any way she could. At every turn, they kept Abed distracted enough to remain oblivious to the tiny girl with the green hair passing him in the hall or sitting across from him in the cafeteria.
The remaining three-sevenths of the Greendale seven remained uninvolved and almost wholly unaware of the entire situation at hand. Instead, Britta was busy ruining Lukka for the boys (because she's the worst) and Jeff was dealing with his new roommate Chang. Oh, and Pierce was off doing whatever it is old men like him do.
Unbeknownst to all of them, Abed was spending his spare time in Greendale's prop closet, thinking up the greatest way to profess his love for Benny. He had run through at least 50 different reunion scenarios, each more epic than the last, but none of them were working. He just had to do this right.
** Sorry if this is short and lacking in fun dialogue. The next chapter is already finished and being edited, and I can promise you it totally makes up for this filler chapter! I'll be posting that chapter next week. Thanks for reading :))**
