Second Shot: Conquering Love Full of Adversities

"Huuuy! Ganda naman this girl!" pambungad na pang-aasar ni Fritz kay Antoinette, our receptionist.

I cleared my throat which caught their attention. Sabay silang napatingin sa akin so I gave them a smile.

"Good morning, Miss Nadia!" they said in unison.

"Report to me around 10am, Ms. Morales," I told her.

"Yes, Ma'am!"

I continued walking when I strode passed Iñigo Hermoso, the marketing head of this hotel and my "ALMOST".

He's a charmer by nature, no wonder he managed to attract a lot of clients to invest in our hotel. But on the other hand, he's also a jerk.

He's busy delegating some guests so I didn't even bother to look at him.

"Here's Ms. Gonzales, our CEO's secretary!" Iñigo said.

Oh crap!

Just when you thought you'll have a good day ahead but it got ruined the moment he noticed me. Just great!

Binalikan ko sila and smiled at them.

"Good morning gentlemen! I hope you'll enjoy your stay here in Casa Del Paraiso" I said politely.

I offered my hand to them for a handshake na maagap naman nilang tinanggap.

"Thank you, Ms. Gonzales! We're hoping for Mr. Salazar's appearance this afternoon," one of the guest said.

"Rest assured that, sir! Enjoy your stay. I will excuse myself now," paalam ko.

I saw how Iñigo gave me a smirk which made my eyes rolled at him.

I tapped the elevator button for my boss' office and from a brief moment, bigla nalang ako nanlambot.

I can still remember what that jerk did to me! The pain he inflicted in me still lingers within my system.

We're actually college batch mates. And also known as our department's sweethearts. We dated for almost seven years but everything changed when he transferred in our hotel.

I'm the one who recommended him here in our hotel where I work as Mr. Chase Salazar's secretary for three years now.

I later on regretted my decision because there's a company policy which forbid our staffs to have an intimate relationship. And things started to fall apart from that moment because we need to keep ours a secret.

"I'm sorry Nadia but I'm not ready to settle down," Iñigo said to me during our seventh anniversary.

I was devastated that night kasi umasa ako na he'll finally propose to me. But turns out, he chose his job over me. 

"Nadia? Are you listening?" Mr. Chase asked.

Bumalik ako sa katinuan when he tapped his pen on his table.

"I'm sorry, sir! You were saying?" I asked.

He let out a deep sigh kaya naman napayuko ako sa kahihiyan.

"Do you have a problem, Nadia?" he asked again.

Umiling ako. "I'm fine, sir. Anyway, here are some of the reports you were asking me about," I told him while giving him some folders. "And don't forget your meeting with some investors this afternoon," I added.

"Okay, you may take your leave for now," he said.

Lumabas na ako ng kanyang office at inayos na ang mga kailangan para sa meeting mamaya when I saw Iñigo walking towards me with a wide grin on his face.

"Is Mr. Salazar inside?" he asked.

I didn't answer him and continued walking, but before I could even take a step, I heard his mischievous laugh which angered me more.

What a total jerk!

"That's insane, Phil!" I told my brother.

"What should I do bro?" tanong nya sa akin.

I didn't answer him. I never expected na isang staff ng hotel namin would drive him crazy. Seriously? He's a freaking celebrity!

"Just confess! It's not that hard, you're a celebrity. Walang h-hindi sa'yo," sabat ni Loyd, my best buddy.

Hindi umimik si Philip. For the love of peace! I never saw him like this before! And it's freaking hilarious!

"Bakit ba kasi nagpanggap kang housekeeping staff?" Loyd asked.

I glanced at Philip and he gave us a smile, "Iwas reporters?" he said.

Sabay kaming napailing ni Loyd sa sinabi niya. I can't believe this dude.

I continued signing some papers when Nadia came knocking on my door, "Good morning, sir! May I come in?"

"The door's open Nadia," I told her.

The moment she came in, I noticed a strong aura on her which made Loyd and Philip bid their goodbyes all of a sudden.

"Do you need anything?" I asked without looking at her.

"It's about...y-yesterday," she said.

I smirked then stood up from my chair and leaned in front of my desk.

I was waiting for his respond when he leaned on his desk and looked at me with his serious eyes.

"I thought you'll forget about yesterday?" his deep voice echoed in my ears.

I looked into his eyes and he then asked, "Mahal mo pa ba sya?"

My eyes widened and due to confusion, umiling nalang ako.

He smirked, "Good. Because I fired him," he said.

What?!

"D-Dahil ba sa kapalpakan ko?"

"Hindi mo kasalanan," he said then walked towards me and cupped my chin, "Ayaw ko lang ng competition," he added.

My eyes widened, "H-Ha?"

He held my hand and looked into my eyes, "Ngayon, pwede na ba kitang ligawan?"

Wait! Ano raw?! Ligawan?!

Mabilis kong binawi ang aking kamay, "Bawal! Nasa company policy iyon!" I said but he just smiled.

"I'm the boss. I can change the rules whenever I want," he said confidently.

I couldn't answer because I was really flustered. But I gathered all my strength to finally ask him how and why?

"You want to court me by breaking the rules? Really, Sir Chase? After all those years? Ganito talaga sasabihin mo?" I said.

"All those years, I only looked after you. Waiting for the day na handa ka nang magmahal muli. Nadia, place your bet on me this time, I promise to take care of your heart," he said.

I was flustered with what he said.

"Can I think about it?" I said.

He smiled then pulled me in a hug.
