*Kims Pov*

I awaken to see Duncan walking around my room, what on earth is he doing? I chuckle to myself

I smile as he looks into my eyes and greeting me

"morning Kim, how's my little fluxy darling doing?" he only started calling me that about a week ago now it seems to have stuck, such a silly nickname, I like it though

"so erm hey Kim" Duncan said he seems so awkward sometimes, it gets annoying very quick, though it's kinda cute.. WHAT? cute? Kim what are you playing at? I mentally slap myself for thinking like that towards my mentor... Best friend? I don't even know

"what might you want for your birthday?" Duncan asked sitting down at the end of my bed

I roll my eyes at him and sigh he always does this, he'll ask me every year and I'll say something like a ruby sword or maybe a pickaxe!possible even a circle magic book or I'd love one if those purple bandanas.. and every year he'll get me none of these things but I love it all the same.

"surprise me" I laughed I could list bunch of things but I just got up and I'm still tired, Dunc' and I were up all night yesterday and the day before, I guess I'm falling into his bad sleeping habits...

"hey Kim?" I look up motioning for him to continue

"are you alright?" the concern in his voice is strange.. I've never know Duncan to sound concern before..

"I mean have you looked at your self?"

"yes Dunc' I know the flux is getting worse, it's spreading" I sighed "but not by much" I quickly say trying to calm him down

I see Duncan start to panic he always does this when ever the flux is mentioned, he worries far too much over me sometimes

*Duncan's pov*

it's my fault, there must have been a different way...

Harmful memories come flooding back, I stumble of the end of Kim's bed and collapse to the floor

~ flashback starts ~

Kim dances of top of the roof with an adorable smile on her face, she had normal hands not infected fluxed ones, that made me smile of course at that time I didn't know what her future was to become

"hey Duncan look!" she said as she steps closer the ledge

"I'm the king of the world" she laughed spreading out her arms letting the wind blow through her hair

I let out a chuckle I can't help it this girl is funny she only been here for a while and already she fits right in

"be carful!" I yell I've slipped a few times before but I had my armor on so I was alright, if she was to fall she wouldn't be as lucky...

"I will don't worry" she says as she steps back, I take a deep breath for a second, I thought she'd fall... "come on Kim I've got something to show you" I say as I turn on the spot I'm planning on getting her a jetpack, and then maybe take to see some or their residents from tekkitopia, she claims to have not seen anyone here before, this should be fun, I recon her and Hannah will be great friends! Zoey could be like a sister to her!

I turn again to check she's coming instead, she's gone.

"AGGHH Duncan.. help" she screamed, she must have fallen, she did but she was gripping onto the edge of the castle roof, I skidded to edge and grabbed her, she was safe, she had slipped, but she was safe now.
