"Wake up Lena." I heard dad. I started to open my eyes slowly and saw him sitting on my bed beside me, running his hand in my hair. "Good morning, dad." I smiled. "Morning Len." He smiled back. I was not used to this every morning but I loved how he woke me up.
"Get up and get ready." He said in his usual soft tone.
"Um.. why?" I asked confused. I glanced at the clock on the side table and saw the time.. it said 7:30. "You forgot? Today's your first day of school." I groaned at the mention of school.
We've been here since a week. Yesterday dad showed us around. This place is indeed beautiful. We went to many shops and bought many things and assessories and today was the first day of my new school.. ugh.
I got up from my bed and went to the bathroom. I really liked this appartment and specially my room. It was warm and cozy. I was never a fan of large and spacious rooms. I always preferred my room to be cozy. Dad knew this and he had already decorated this room just like I wanted.
After I was done changing ,I got out and stood infront of the dresser. I yanked the brush from the drawer and started to brush my hair when my phone started to buzz. I put the brush down and approached the night stand where I kept the phone yesterday.
Cole was video calling me. A huge grin made it's way up to my face and I quickly accepted the call. I placed the phone on the bed against the headboard and sat infront of it.
"Hey, Cole!" I greeted him. He was looking very happy. "Heyyy!" His phone was placed on the kitchen counter and he was busy cooking something.
"What's cookin'?" I asked him. "You know I can't cook." He chuckled. "Oo.. you look good." He said as he placed a plate on the counter and held the phone in his hand. "Yeah, today's my first day of new school." I said.
He was wearing a blue t-shirt and was looking good as always. "Oh!" He said. "Have a nice day, bestie." He gave me a cheeky grin.
"Lena. Comeon were gonna be late." Dad yelled from the other side of the door. I said my goodbye to Cole and headed outside.
I already missed him. Cole and I have never been away from each other. We've always been the bestest of friends.
I met dad downstairs and we both headed outside towards his car. He drove me off to my new school. Once we were standing outside the two big gates, I gulped and looked at dad and he smiled at me. "Have a great day, Len. First day may be tough but make sure to make some friends and it will be all good." I gave him a forced smile and kissed his cheek before getting outside the car and waving him goodbye.
I saw as he drove off and the car got smaller and smaller. I looked forward and caught many people staring at me. I've never been this nervous before. I knew how to handle Queen bees and spoiled brats. I've heard high school sick stories many time and they are soo damn lame.
I held my head high and started to walk further inside the school building. I kept on walking and heard many whispers coming from those kids in the corner. The whispered to themselves or in each other's ears.
"A new kid."
"She must be a nerd."
"Yes! I got a new target." Excuse me bitch?
"Damn, look at her."
I rolled my eyes and kept on walking with my head held high. The school was extremely big and it was hard to get to the office. Once I got there successfully, I reached the lady, sitting behind the table. She did not notice me, or rather she was ignoring me. She kept on typing furiously on her phone while chewing the gum. Poor gum.
"Excuse me?"I knocked on the glass table and she glanced up and me for the first time. She examined me and then fixed her glasses before speaking. "Yes?" Cool! Nice way of greeting.
"Hi. I'm Lena Martinez . I'm new here and I want my schedule." I said trying not to sound annoyed because her attitude was really... bitchy.
She looked at me with her glasses on the top of her nose. She examined me from head to toe before rolling her eyes and pushing her glasses back.
She typed something on the computer and then handed me a printed paper.
I literally snatched the paper out of her grip and started to walk outside her office. I'm already done.
I checked the schedule and saw MATH written in capital letters. Math was cool.
I hate those people who makes jokes on math like 'please grow up and start solving your own problems, we have our own to solve' like seriously?
Call me nerd but I love math.
After struggling for almost fifteen minutes I managed to find the class. I stood outside of the classroom and took a deep breath. I can do this..
I put my hand on the knob and twisted it before entering. I stood by the enterance when I felt all the heads turned towards me. A short fat man, standing beside the teacher's table snapped his head towards me and smiled lightly. "You must be Lena ." He said and I nodded.
Comeon! Confident people never nods, they speak!
"Good, comein." I entered and he told me to introduce myself.
The worst part.
I turned towards the class and gulped. Okay! Time to shine.
"Hey! I'm Lena martinez and I just moved here from Boston." I turned back to the teacher and he nodded before introducing himself as Mr. Steven.
"Yes, Daniel?" Mr. Steven spoke and my head snapped to a boy. He was raising his hand and then stood up. "Are you single?"
"I'm ready to hit." He whispered.
Typical lame question.
"Look, whoever you are. I may be new here but don't you dare think that I'm some helpless creature who can't reply to these lame questions." I said and heard some gasps from the crowd.
He gaped at me and before he could say anything Mr Steven decided to interupt in our conversation and told me to take a seat before focusing his attention towards his register.
I looked around the classroom and found a seat empty near the window. Yes! The best spot.
