Hi everyone, it seems like such a long time ago since I was publishing weekly chapters of Through the Looking Glass and now most of us have had our normal lives changed entirely by Covid-19. I'm wishing you all well and hoping you are managing to stay safe during this extraordinary time. If any of you are key workers I would like to thank you very much for all your efforts to look after us and keep those essential services running, we are all so grateful to you, you are true heroes.
When I finished Through The Looking Glass I did say I had another idea I was working on and finally it's ready to share with you all. My new story is called "Under a Hopeful Sky" and the first chapter will be published tomorrow to coincide with VE day in the UK. Given the subject matter I thought this would be appropriate. I'm afraid it is not a Joe and Dianne fanfiction story and I hope you will forgive me for that and that you enjoyed my storytelling enough to give this new story a try despite the different subject matter. I won't tell you too much about it as I like stories to unfold themselves in their own time rather than be pre-empted. Here is the description I have added to the story to give you a bit of an idea....
When Sophie agrees to accompany her grandfather on a trip to the D Day commemorations in France she hopes to discover more about his war years. Little does she know that she will be drawn into a fascinating and heartbreaking story which binds together four individuals and reaches out across seventy five years to change the lives of all concerned.
Watching Joe and Dianne find each other and fall in love has certainly taught me a lot and reminded me of things I once believed in. Although this story is not about them I hope you will find some elements that will remind you of the lessons you have learnt from them to, they may not be in there by name but in spirit they are most definitely at the heart of this story and if it hadn't been for them (and for you) I would never have written it. I hope that you will give it a try and stick with it as the chapters go on. I am certainly loving writing it and excited about ark of the story I already have mapped out in my head - I have already written the first eight chapters.
I intend to publish the chapters once a week, at the same time every week so that you know when the next instalment is coming. The first chapter will be out tomorrow (Friday 8th May) at 8pm BST and thereafter I think I might return to my usual Thursday upload day which seemed to work so well last time.
If you want a sneak peek of the first chapter (and every chapter) then please follow me, I usually leak a little taster the day before I publish most weeks.
All my love and looking forward to hearing your comments, stay safe,
Love Gruff xxx
