TW: ALCOHOL, ATTEMPTED ASSAULT, GUN, THREATS

BASICALLY, JOHN IS A BUM WHO DRINKS TOO MUCH AND DECIDES TO TAKE IT OUT AND YOU RUN OUT, HOPING IT'S SAFER.

Your POV

I tossed around, trying to wake up from my nightmare. I shot up and gasped for air. I ran my hands through my hair, trying to breathe. I looked around, my eyes adjusted to the dark. Lightning cracked outside and I hugged my knees. The wind roared outside, my window trying to hold onto its hinges. I got up and walked towards my mom's room, hoping she'd help me sleep. I froze, my blood running cold, as I heard something fumbling around in the kitchen. I tiptoed back to my room to grab a baseball bat that I have for, you know, safety.

I clutched the bat, ready to swing, as I walked down the stairs. My heart thumped in my head as I turned the corner. I sighed, and loosened my grip on the bat. It was just John drinking something.

"Hey, brainless, it's nighttime. Go to sleep," I grumbled, turning to leave.

(THIS IS WHERE IT STARTS, SKIP AHEAD IF YOU WANT)

"You're a stupid kid, you know that?"

I rolled my eyes, "Sure." I looked into his hands to see what he was drinking. It was beer.

"Hey, dumbass, mom made it a rule that there's no alcohol in this house," I whisper-yelled, trying to overpower the wind.

John burped, "You don't tell me what to do!"

I looked at the table. There had to have been at least six bottles. God, he had a problem.

"Clean up when you're done," I grumbled.

"You're a stupid girl and nobody loves you! You think your mom loves you? She 's just waiting for the day she can kick you out! Your stupid anxiety and insomnia is slowly taking all of her money and she's tired of it!

"And you always piss off someone at school! I've been trying to tell her your friends aren't good for you!"

I whipped around, "The only one who isn't good for me is you, you bum!"

John shot up and pointed at me, "Don't you yell at me! I'm your fucking dad!"

"No the hell you aren't! You'll never be my dad! My dad is dead and you'll never replace him! And you're never going to replace him in mom's heart!"

"Your dad is dead! Get over it! Your mom doesn't love him anymore and she doesn't love you!"

"Shut up!"

John raised his hand and threw the bottle of beer at me. I ducked and heard the bottle shatter on the staircase. I whipped my head up, only to see John roar a threat in anger and lunge at me.

(NOW WE ARE IN THE CLEAR)

I shot out of the way and ran to the door, throwing it open and running out, the rain rained hard, the wind roared and lightning cracked. I shielded my eyes, trying to find the gate as I ran. I heard John yell out but I didn't wait to find out if he was running after me. The wind swung the gate open and I darted past it. I ran into the woods, the rain and wind blinding my path, and my lungs starting to burn. I ran past tree after tree, the ground threatening to give out from under me. A puddle splashed as I stomped past it, wetting my pant leg and foot. I wish I had shoes.

I entered the thicker parts of the woods, swatting branches out of my way. I could hardly see unless the lightning flashed. I felt something snag my lag and I came crashing out, mud splattering my hands and face, definitely ruining my clothes. I could hear John yelling, but the only thing I could make out was 'I'll kill you.'

I scrambled up, desperately trying to get away. Unfortunately, the ground was too wet and my bare feet wouldn't stop slipping. After I managed to get up, I remembered brought the bat.

But I dropped it when I fell. I groaned, dropping to the floor, trying to find the bat. I felt something cold and hard touch my hand and I felt my hand grip it hard. I shot up and reared my bat, ready to swing. I panted, trying to breath as my eyes darted around, waiting for lightning to illuminate John.

Lighting flashed and I spotted him. I felt my heart drop and my breath hitch.

(ROUGH PART WITH A GUN)

John had a rifle in his hand, glaring at me, panting.

"There you are, you stupid bitch," he yelled, grinning. He raised the rifle and aimed for me.

(THIS IS IT UNTIL HE SHOOTS)

I felt tears threaten to fall, my heart threatening to stop.

'This is it... I'm going to die because of John,' I thought to myself, 'I'll never be able to see my friends or mom ever again. I'll never be able to leave rocks or flowers or a drawing on my dad's grave ever again.'

I heard the cocking of the gun and shut my eyes, ready for the end.

The shot rang out, audible over the rain and wind...

But I never felt it.

I cracked open an eye, only for both of my eyes to open wide in shock, dropping the bat.

"It's... It's you," I whispered, dropping to the floor, my eyes stuck on the scene in front of me.

There in front of me was the thing from the woods, looming over John, tendrils wrapped around his throat, lifting him off the ground as the struggled to free himself, and around the gun that was now pointed to the sky.

I felt my breath hitch as I forced the words out, "Slender Man."
