2 weeks passed, and February arrived. But the January that just went was one of the, no, the most painful Jan. of Owen and Claire's lives. After that night, they only had formal meetings, or, as the case before, Owen avoided Claire whenever she wanted to talk something informal with him.
Sydney wasn't too affected at first; Claire told her that Owen's schedule was much more cramped in late January, and her daughter agreed without any questions. However, as Feb, came, Sydney was missing Owen terribly. Of course she had no idea what her mother was going through.
As the second month came, Claire met a man named Jason Martinez. They were quite attracted to each other, but Claire always feared Sydney's reaction to this, since ever that painful night when she had to part with Owen. Truly enough, Sydney's affection for Owen was streets ahead, but she never made the duo feel that way. She was happy with her mother meeting a man whom she liked, but she still missed Owen.
On the other hand, Owen's life wasn't so smooth. He was depressed, but never let it show, though Barry sensed that something was wrong. Unlike Claire, he didn't fall in love with anyone, though he was still incredibly dashing.
Meanwhile, as these days were going, Isla Nublar was encountering a problem.
With InGen out of the island, and Masrani Corporation ruling all areas including the ones the former once boasted of, causing them losses. Thus, it was no wonder that the mercenaries were desperate for revenge. They decided to capture some of the dinosaurs, and hold some people as hostages, who would only be returned in exchange for their previous control on the island.
On nights, the mercenaries entered the valley, and saw a pack of Gallimimus resting, and they found some sauropods too. They were tranquilised, and rounded up in cages in InGen helicopters. These activities, being carried out at nighttime, had no supervision by the park officials.
However, as the days came, Claire was quick to notice that the Gallimimus and sauropods were almost non-existent, save 4 of the former and 3 apatosauruses. She smelled a rat, but she soon forgot about it, thinking it to be part of dinosaur behaviour, something which only one man was well-versed in.
And she didn't have the courage to see him.
Owen had also noticed this, but was more concerned. However, he wasn't too much of an expert in the field of Gallimimuses and sauropods. Plus, InGen was not even a remote possibility, they dealing with huge losses, he thought. And life went on.
However, one night, while InGen was hauling the last of the sauropods and the Gallimimuses, Zia, brave enough to try and figure out what was happening, saw this. She had company though, for Barry was tagging along. As the last of the dinos went, they were spotted.
"Intruders!" one of them yelled. "Shit," she whispered with anger in her voice. "We have to get out."
They ran fast. However, for the second time since their rescue operation, Zia was in the hands of the enemies.
"Zia!" Barry yelled, seeing his companion in the clutches of the mercenaries.
"Just go!" she yelled, before she was carried inside. The mercenaries tried to get Barry, but when you are a raptor expert and Owen Grady's closest friend, you have luck and experience of the Indominus on your side. Barry managed to escape, and the mercenaries were distraught.
However, their leader laughed in an evil voice. "No problem men. We have the dinosaurs. We will succeed."

Barry rushed to Owen's house, but when the door opened, Owen was in tears. Barry was shaken.
"Owen?"
