"Allontanarsi (step away)."

Piero was clearly uncomfortable and shocked as his weak voice ordered Ryan, his eyes nervously watching him as if unsure whether he was going to be come charging at him and hit him.

Your own eyes moved from Piero up to Ryan, who had leaned away from you but was still in the same position as before, watching Piero blankly.

His facial muscles or composure didn't give anything away, but after a second of statuesque silence, he stood up away from you. The warmth from his body left along with him, and goosebumps returned to your arms and legs.

The tension in the air was thick as Piero and Ryan stared at each other.

You immediately noticed how from Piero's point of view, it probably looked as if Ryan was forcing himself onto you and he had come to stop it as soon as he saw it. Which... was what was happening? You should be... thankful for Piero coming to stop it...?

"I didn't know you were such a disgusting pig." Piero spat uncontrollably, all of sudden finding the confidence that he had been lacking. He even took a step towards Ryan, almost as if he was squaring up to him.

Ryan didn't respond, just watched Piero in a calm manner, taking in what he was saying.

Watching them, you froze in place on your sunbed.

Were you meant to stand up for Ryan?

Piero swallowed harshly, and looked over at you, as if beckoning you to go inside and out of the way, but you were stuck in place switching between him and Ryan with your eyes.

You were still angry at him, and his actions weren't  okay. Piero had stopped him, and you were grateful for him stopping something that was giving you red flashing lights in your head. Right?

"Let's all calm down." You gently spoke in a broken tone, still trying to overcome the switch from being pinned down by Ryan to being 'rescued' by Piero.

You had hoped that they would realise your discomfort at the situation, and just let it go, since you didn't want to take sides and it would be better if there were no sides to be taken.

Despite your words, neither of them seemed to acknowledge you any further, and instead stood watching each other for what felt like forever.

"It's late, we're all tired, let's leave it please." You stated louder, stumbling up to stand from the sunbed, and positioning yourself between the two of them shyly. Ryan's jaw was tense, but he still seemed bored at the situation, and wasn't moving. There was a moment where he flickered his eyes down at you, but straight after centred them back on Piero, who was staring at you with a worried gaze.

"She's right, we're all tired." Ryan's voice broke the impenetrable stare-down. In his tone, there was an intense sign of warning and threat that sent a shiver down your back, and probably Piero's too. Eyes still locked, Ryan waited for Piero to move.

Defeated, Piero nervously nodded his head in forced agreement, looking down at you worriedly, and trying to ask you through his facial expression whether you were really okay, and wanted to leave it all like this.

You couldn't even look back to Ryan, as you slumped your shoulders and gave Piero a small, calming smile, placing a hand on his arm and walking with him back into the house in an awkward silence. Wishing you could sink into the ground and die, you walked up the stairs and hung your head low when you stopped in front of your room door. The key to it was already in your hand and you placed it into the lock, turning it.

"Sei sicuro di stare bene (Are you sure you're okay)?" Before you opened your door, a rough and calloused hand gently touched yours on the handle making you stop. Piero's voice was quiet and tender.

You could tell he wanted to take care of you.

He wanted you to break down in front of him like a little girl, and he wanted to satisfaction of embracing you in his arms and being the knight in shining armour.

You were used to men wanting that from you.

Looking up at him, you met his brown eyes and wrinkled forehead facing you. His eyebrows were thick, and skin was somewhat sagging at the corners of his eyes to give him a permanently sad look. You hadn't noticed the light sprinkle of freckles across his large nose.

"Yes it's fine." You muttered confidently, patting the hand that was on yours. After some contemplation you decided to purposefully add, "I can protect myself. I'd rather not have people help me... I understand what it looked like, but... He wasn't doing anything that I wasn't allowing."

When the meaning of the words fell into place,  Piero's face seemed to falter slightly. All of a sudden he seemed sadder than before.

Both of you watched the contact that was happening between your hands.

"Buonanotte." He whispered, barely audibly, hanging his head and retrieving his hand from between the two of yours.

You nodded your head as a final goodbye to the whole situation, and opened the door, walking through leaving Piero standing watching you, clearly still hoping that he could come in after you and look after you. Closing it silently, you waited leaning against it until you heard the door on the opposite side of the corridor shut.

Finally. God.

You sunk down onto the ground and leaning your head against the door in exasperation.

Did all of that really have to happen?

You wondered whether Piero would tell Giuseppe what he had seen. Would Ryan be told to leave? You couldn't imagine Elena even believing it, she thought that Ryan was the most helpful kindest man she had met.

For god's sake, you were an adult. You were a consenting adult, and you were hungrily attracted to Ryan, even more so when he was rough with you...

Barely having a couple of minutes to yourself, the handle to your door turned, and you felt the forced of someone pushing the door against your back, making you lift yourself from the floor and away from the door.

What the hell?

Ryan slipped in through the darkness, and very very slowly closed the door behind him so that it didn't make a sound at all.

Didn't the guy have enough already?

"Get out of my room, what the hell?!" You whisper-shouted at him, jabbing a finger into his chest as you stepped up to him in anger. You were tired of the disregard he had for your privacy and feelings.

"Calm down," He muttered lowly, and he softly took your hand away from him, placing it to your side where his hand grazed against you waist. You froze at the contact, feeling your heart rate speed up. "I've been waiting all evening for you to come back."

"Y-You have?" You whispered back, melting at his words. Even in your dreams you would have never expected him to say anything so romantic to you. After being so forceful in the garden? It definitely made it hard to breathe when you looked up at his gorgeous face.

He could have you wherever he wanted however he wanted, you wanted to please him so badly.

"No key to my room, remember? I need to get back in." He chuckled darkly, taking a hair that was hanging in front of your face and tucking it behind your ear in one swift movement. When you registered how his words were not aligned with the affectionate action, you moved your face away from him, and your mood dropped.

"It would be great if you could leave your door open for the next couple of days whilst I get a new key made." He smirked at you before walking past and into the bathroom, the door shutting behind him.

Oh fuck off.
