Chapter 15 - The Love of Nekos

Lucy's POV

Now that the Neko mystery has reached its conclusion, Natsu and I were relaxing inside the Fairy Tail guildhall like normal. Well, except for the cat ears and tail. I was admiring Natsu as he slept across me on the table. "Fight me Ice Princess" he muttered in his sleep. I giggled, 'he even fights Gray in his dreams' I thought.

I thought back to when he called me his girlfriend while we were fighting the dark wizards and blushed. I can't believe Natsu and I are dating now. My heart beat hard against my chest and my eyes wandered to his pink spiky hair. It looked so soft to touch that I couldn't help but to reach over and thread my fingers through it. He hummed in content and smiled in his sleep.

I moved my fingers to gently scratch behind one of his neko ears and then heard a purring noise coming from him. My eyes widened in surprise. Did I hear correctly? His eyes shot open and raised his head while covering his mouth with both hands. "Natsu, did you just purr?" I asked in surprise. "N-No" he stuttered. "I heard you purr!" I said, "you heard wrong!" he replied and I noticed his face was as red as Erza's hair.

"We all heard you Flame Brain" Gray spoke up. Natsu and I noticed the whole guild staring at us. Before anyone could say anything else, Natsu transformed into his neko form and bolted out of the guild. Once he was gone, everyone started laughing. "Weirdest exit ever" someone said. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned to see Gray behind me. "Don't think I didn't see you stroking Natsu's hair while he slept" he said with a smirk and I blushed. "His hair looked soft" I replied and looked away bashfully.

He chuckled, "that idiot really does love you. I doubt he would have purred for anyone else" he said. "I don't know about that. Anyway, I better head home" I replied and started walking towards the guild doors. "Running home to your hot neko honey?" Gray teased. I instantly blushed a deep red and whipped my head back to him. "Sh-Shut up Gray!" I replied and then ran out of the guild.

Once I was far enough away from the guild, I walked the rest of the way to my apartment. 'Why won't my face cool down?!' I thought with my hands on my heated cheeks. I took a few deep breaths and by the time I reached my apartment my cheeks cooled down. I walked inside and noticed my window was opened which I remember closing before I left. I found the pink intruder curled up asleep on my pillow in his neko form.

With a smile on my face, I sat down on my bed and stroked him. He purred again but didn't wake up this time. An idea popped into my head and I looked at my desk. Why not write a novel based on how we turned into nekos? I walked over and sat down at my desk before taking out my paper and quill. 'Now to come up with a title' I thought as I tapped the quill lightly on my chin. I looked back at Natsu and a title came to me. Ideas floated from my mind to my quill as I wrote sentence after sentence.

I jumped in surprise when I felt two muscly arms hug my shoulders from behind. "What are you writing?" Natsu asked and gave me a peck on the cheek. "It's a new novel I'm writing. It's about how we got turned into nekos" I replied and he laid his chin on my shoulder. "What's it called?" he asked, and I turned to look him in the eye. "The Love of Nekos" I replied and gave him a kiss on the lips which he gladly returned. When we broke the kiss, he said "I love it" with his signature smile.
