Kix left the office with a strange feeling in his chest. He wanted to cry, and it wasn't the first time. He sometimes  thought he wasn't ready to be a medic. He felt weak, he always thought that the deaths of his brothers affect him way too much.

He went straight to the medical bay, there was no one other than the two usual medical droids, but they were offline.Kix turned on his computer and searched through all the reports and all the medical documentation he had access to. "Chips, chips... There is nothing that refers to those chips."He completely lost track of time, after a few hours, which for him was only half, the door opened. Jesse entered and put his hands on Kix's shoulders.- You're busy? - Kix remembered that he had promised to eat with him. He looked at Jesse with raised eyebrows.- Sorry, I forgot...- Jesse shook his head.- Take it easy, duty's always first. But what are you doing? You have no one injured here. - He asked.- I just... I was checking a few things. W-with what happened at Ringo Vinda, the Kaminoans have decided to make some changes to the medical regulations. -  Jesse nodded, staring at him.- That's boring. Shall I bring you a caf? - He asked with a smile.- Yes thanks. - Kix returned the smile.Jesse returned after a few minutes with a cup in each hand. He gave one to Kix and sat on the stretcher. Kix sat next to him.- How's the captain doing? About Fives, I mean. They were close friends - Jesse asked staring at the coffee in his cup.- He is fine. Like everyone, I guess. - Kix sighed deeply, thinking about his conversation with th captain - When will this war end?- What will happen to us when it ends? - Kix looked up to see Jesse. That was a good question.- Will we even win? - Kix asked and Jesse snorted.- Of course. I can't imagine losing this war. We were designed to win it. - Kix took the first sip of coffee. It was very sweet, Jesse always added a lot of sugar to it. - You're ok?- Jesse was staring at him, concerned.- Yes... I have a lot on my mind.- Well, you were busy and I interrupted you. Sorry. - He said standing up, smiling again.

Jesse came out of the infirmary and Kix stared at the door. "I suppose the Republic wants to win this war, but the Chancellor does not seem to be  in a hurry to end it." It was something Kix thought about a lot lately.

He got up and went back to his computer. He spent another two hours reading medical reports of clones that had suffered all kinds of brain damage in combat. "There is no trace of any chip anywher ... But it makes sense, all medical examinations of this kind are performed by Kaminoans. If they wanted to hide something... They could easily do it by modifying the test results. " Kix ran a hand over his head.He approached one of the medical droids and activated it.- What is the medical emergency? - it asked automatically.- You have to help me make me a brain scan. - The droid cocked his head.- To you? - Kix nodded.- Yeah. We are looking for something that is not completely biological and  part  mechanical .- For what reason? - The droid stared at him, that always bothered Kix.- Confidential, I don't have to give you details. - The droid nodded and proceeded to prepare a stretcher.Kix lay down and the droid performed the first test. Nothing strange came out on the monitors. Kix was giving orders to the droid, indicating modifications in the type of scan, but none showed what Kix expected. As soon as he ran out of ideas he deactivated the droid again and erased its memory records from the last hour."I'm tired ... Maybe tomorrow I can think of something"He went to the barracks with the intention of sleeping for a while. When the doors opened before him, the smell of paint surprised him. He looked around to see who was putting a coat of paint on his armor and saw Jesse focused on his helmet. "That is not his armor" he thought when he saw a kama stretched out next to him.- Where did you get that, Jesse? -  Jesse looked up to see him.- I've been promoted. I am now an ARC trooper. - He explained with a smile and showed the kama to Kix. - I've always made fun of those who wore this. Who was going to say that someday I would have to wear it ... - Kix couldn't help but notice the helmet.  He was painting it's entire backside.- Don't you think you've used too much blue? - He asked pointing to the helmet. Jesse shrugged and smiled.- There's never enough blue.Kix sat next to him and picked up one of the parts of the armor. - Need some help? - Jesse gave him a brush. - Sure.
