As soon as the gunship entered enemy territory, they were attacked. The combat dorides fired into the cockpit, killing the pilot on impact and causing the gunship to crash.
Wreker broke down the door so everyone could get out. Kix heard a groan of pain. Cody was trapped in the rubble and couldn't get out. "Oh no ..." - Help! We have to get Cody out of the gunship! - Rex approached and looked to see Cody.- I'll get him. - He said with determination, but Hunter grabbed him by the shoulder and forced him to back away. He gestured for Kix to move away as well.- Wrecker, do your thing. - The sergeant ordered. Kix snorted angrily.- This is ridiculous. He'll need help getting Cody out of there. - Crosshair laughed lightly. Kix frowned at him.- He's not going to get Cody out of there. He's going to push the gunship aside. - Kix exchanged a look with Jesse. "These guys are crazy."
Wrecker pushed the gunship aside and carried Cody over his shoulder. The gunship exploded behind him. Kix felt a very annoying tickle on his back. He didn't enjoy these situations.
Wrecker left Cody on the ground and Kix proceeded to check his injuries. The scanner was displaying data he didn't like. "Shab... this is going to be hard"- I don't like this... He has internal bleeding. I can treat it, but I need time.- Well, I'm afraid you won't have it. - Said Jesse pointing to his twelve. The droids had arrived.- Take cover, we will defend this position. - Rex ordered, but Hunter shook his head.- Let us handle this, Captain. - Rex wanted to say something but Hunter had already started giving orders and mobilizing his squad. - Bad Batch, plan 82, Shockwave!
Kix was doing everything he could to keep Cody conscious. If he lost consciousness, Kix could lose him. He would have liked to inject him a stimulant, but that would make the bleeding worse. He searched in his backpack to see what material he had. He knew by heart what his combat gear included, but he hoped somehow that some more potent Bacta supplement would appear out of nowhere, but he was no lucky. There wasn't much he could do for Cody. Unfortunately, Kix finded himself in that situation too often, either due to lack of knowledge or lack of equipment. It was always in his head that both his instructors and the Kaminoans did not give too much importance to his medical training. Kix cursed himself for not being prepared enough to save his brothers. It hurt his soul.
- Captain! He needs to go to the frigate. My equipment is insufficient to deal with it. - Rex nodded worried, but his eyes rested on the Bad Batch. Jesse knelt down next to Kix and contacted the command center for an evac for Cody.
When the sergeant and his team took down all the droids, Kixcarefully lifted Cody up and they went to find a place to rest.
Kix spent a long time with the commander, and managed to stabilize him, but the pain persisted.- I'm sorry I can't do more, commander. I'm really sorry. - Kix said with a trembling voice. Cody nodded and tried to smile to him.
Jesse was sitting on a stone eating and staring at Hunter. Kix sat next to him, also watching the sergeant.
- I understand what makes the rest of the batch unique but... What's so special about him about him? - Kix had asked himself the same question. he smiled at Jesse.- He can put up with the other three.- Jesse laughed and Tech looked at them.- His senses were heightened. - Tech proceeded to explain. - In a place like the cyber-center, he can fell the electromagnetic frequencies of the entire planet. - Jesse and Kix looked at him in silence for a moment. It sounded surreal to Kix.- And I thought we were smart using a holomap. - Jesse suddenly said, nudging Kix.- Unlike maps, Hunter is never wrong. - Tech said to end the discussion. Kix still couldn't believe it, but Cody's whimpers forced him to focus again.
Rex was by his side, trying to calm him down. "Sab, that's my job. What am I supposed to be doing? " He thought upon seeing them and checked his chrono. It was still a while before the extraction team arrived. Rex stood up and approached them.
- We have to get going. - Crosshair looked at him defiantly.- The commander is in no position to move. - He objected with annoyance. Rex nodded.- We've already contacted the command center. A team will come to extract him soon and Kix is going to stay with him. - Kix nodded. - I'm in charge now. - Crosshair grimaced, but said nothing. - And I have a plan to get to the cyber-center. - Crosshair approached the captain, and Wrecker stood up, watching Rex closely.- If your plans are so good, captain... tell me why the commander had to call us in. - Those words provoked Kix and Jesse. They both rose in unison.- You can't talk to Captain Rex like that. - Jesse said raising his voice. Wreker approached him quickly.- Says who? - Wrecker grabbed Jesse by the neck and lifted him off the ground. Kix and Rex surrounded him and tried to get Jesse down, but Crosshair also stepped in and pushed Kix.- Hey, stay out of it.- Kix punched him and Crosshair returned it.Rex was shaking Wrecker to release Jesse, Kix and Crosshair were punching each other and Tech was trying to stop the fight, but without effect. They all stopped as Hunter raised his voice.- Wrecker! Drop him. Now. - Wrecker looked at him in surprise and dropped Jesse. - What are you doing, huh? Here we all fight for the same thing. - Crosshair and Kix stopped too. Hunter sighed - Let's cut the chatter. We are going to finish what we have come to do. Captain, we will do it your way. For Cody.- Good. Get your things and move out.
Kix helped Jesse pick up his gear and they said goodbye. He sat next to Cody and waited for the rescue team to arrive.
