Amara POV
I stared in horror at the black-haired child who called Adam his father. My smile was frozen to my face as I said hello to him. He looked about 10 or 11 and Adam was talking to him. My thoughts drowned their voices out, like being underwater as I tried to comprehend the fact that Adam has a child. A child which he did NOT tell me about. Clearly it wasn't Maribelle's otherwise it would've come up in the divorce.
"Adam, sweetheart. Can I talk to you in private for a second," I continued watching the child who was awfully so bubbly run around the hallway. I didn't wait for his reply as I grabbed him and set him aside.
"What the actual fucking hell. When were you going to tell me you had a KID?" I asked, my eyes almost popping out of their socket. His expression revealed nothing. Then he released a heavy breath.
"Yes. My son," He put his hand on my shoulder, like a reassuring pat. If that idiot did not come out with an explanation in 2 seconds I swear to god I will MURDER him, "I sometimes forget that I am a Father," He sighed, wistfully gazing at the child. I gaped at him.
"How the fuck do you forget you have a fucking kid?" I said, keeping one eye trained on the kid who was eating a bar of chocolate. Who was his Mother?
"CAESER! Get yourself over here!" He called out. The Caeser popped out with what I assume was his wife. The man whose posters were all over the magazines I owned when I was younger. Oops. He was Adam's older brother, the one who gave up Zajmi Industries to pursue a career in acting or singing. I can't remember. Basically, a King Edward VIII situation, except he had a love for the dramatic arts.
"Did she fall for it?" Caeser cackled, hitting Adam on the back. I jumped back, slightly bewildered at what's going on.
"Sorry, but what's going on?" I asked, confused at the commotion. Today was a wonderful day for Dervishi family reunions. Let's hope Halima won't spill a word and arrange for a Khan family reunion.
God knows what I'd do.
"Amara. I am 30 years old. Do you think I had a child when I was 19?"Adam said, his look serious.
"Well...I wouldn't put it past you," I replied back. The final piece of the jigsaw fell into place. This child was NOT Adam's. It belonged to Caeser. I examined him closely. Jet black hair, reminiscent to Halima's. Green eyes. Lanky. He has a cocky and friendly attitude, inviting warmth in his demeanour unlike Adam who was cold and well just generally a cruel bitch. Then I examined his wife. Brunette. Tight, corkscrew curls. Also green eyes. Has a Mediterranean look around her. Carefree and wild nature.
"I like her already! Knows what she's gotten herself into, unlike the dumb ones you brought in before," Caeser announced, a twinkle in his eye. I blushed and avoided his gaze as he examined me from head to toe.
"Why thank you," I replied back, "Now I'd like the pleasure of being introduced to the both of you, since my boyfriend has clearly neglected in his duty, though I was a huge fan of you when I was younger," Adam had his classic look of pure arctic frost. Even distant from his brother it seems.
"And she has good taste. Keep this one. Half of the other ones were too young to listen to me, I feel so appreciated that there's still someone out there who's heard my originals. This is my wife, Katrina. My son, Alexander," I shook their hands firmly and we walked to the living room. Alex was already there, watching a movie. I observed as Katrina pushed her son gently so she could sit next to him. I found this maternal act as sort of peculiar. My mother never showed me this kind of affection.
