This is during the 6/24 episode of Grey's Anatomy. Derek and Meredith had already adopted Zola and they had also adopted another daughter Courtney.

Meredith's POV

I have finished getting Derek prepped for surgery to remove the bullet from his chest and hope that Cristina will be back soon. He is loosing too much blood so he can't wait much longer, I look at the clock and see that ten minutes have passed, where in the world in Cristina? I hear a noise and expect to see Cristina walk though those doors but as I spin around I see that it is April Kepner, not Cristina. Where in the world could she be? I hope the gunman didn't get her.

"Where's Cristina?" I ask April.

"She told me to come back to tell you she was just checking the last OR. The OR in which, Teddy and Owen were in to see if anyone was still here." April told me, while trying to stay calm, but I could hear the panic in her voice.

"Oh," I say, glad that she's okay.

"How is Derek?" she asks just as the door opens again, which causes her to jump. Cristina walks through the door along with Jackson Avery. My heart falls as I see that they are alone.

"Where are Teddy and Owen?" I ask confused.

"They went to take their patient up," Jackson informs me.

"I guess I will be the one to do Derek's surgery," Cristina says calmly.

"Okay, are you sure you can do it?" I ask her worryingly.

"Yeah, I can do it, I did it with Burke many times. Just one thing, you can't watch. I can't do it if you watch with your 'please - don't - kill - eyes'. So can you please go?" Cristina asks me unsurely.

"I guess I can, but can I just sit in the scrub room?" I ask, wanting to be able to watch but knowing I can't.

"Sure, but Kepner, sit next to her and stop her from getting up, okay?" she asks April.

"S-s-sure," April stutters.

"Okay then Jackson and I will go scrub. Mer and Kepner come to the scrub room too," Christina orders everyone. I go over to kiss Derek just in case he doesn't make it. I then follow Cristina, Jackson, and April into the scrub room. I see that April has already sat down underneath the sink so I sit down next to her as Cristina and Jackson enter the OR.

I look at April and see that she is crying hysterically. "Why are you crying? It's my husband on the table." I ask her.

"My best friend died today, she was shot in the h-h-head," she tells me, as I wrap my arm around her.

"Oh, I am so sorry! I hope everyone else is all right," I say thinking about Lexie and Alex.

"Everything bad happens here, it always does," April mumbles.

"Yeah a lot of bad stuff happened here - even before you came," I tell her quietly.

"Like what, I haven't heard of anything really," she asked confused of why she hadn't heard of it.

"Oh we really don't talk about it. It was mostly stuff with our families and whatever," I say.

"Like what stuff?" She asks.

"Oh, my mother came into the Hospital, the famous Ellis Grey and everyone found out about how I had been keeping her early onset Alzheimer's a secret, oh, and then Cristina lost her baby with Preston Burke. I almost got blown up because I had my hand on a bomb inside a body cavity, some of the people from the bomb squad got blown up in the hallway that I was in. I then found about how my father had another family after he abandoned me when I was five. I then drowned and was dead for two hours stuck in some form of afterlife and Derek rescued me from the water. Then my mom died when they were reviving me. My step mom died of the hiccups shortly after that, and I got uninvited from the funeral. Then my half sister Lexie showed up and George got hit by a bus and died. Izzie got cancer, and now this has happened. Why is everything here so messed up. Maybe they should rename this place the Seattle Grave Mercy Death hospital. Don't you think?" I rambled.
