Backstories.

Let's talk about backstories, mainly in isekai inspired novels.

Alright this has also been an annoying thing that everyone knows so okay, MC was abused and became an orphan, abused even more by corrupt policemen and humiliated by other people and/or bullied.

Wow, so tragic. If only I didn't see that same backstory in every story ever.

I mean... can't the MC be a god damn normal person for once? Or does having all that shit happen to you make you cool? The answer is that it fucking doesn't and is a god damn issue.

Your MC won't be cheerful and then be all edgy while telling their backstory, they'd be fucking depressed as shit and wouldn't be able to function properly. And the worst shit is that people usually make the other characters feel sympathy and then start simping for the MC. Fuck off, no thank you.
