"Skyler! We said Tim Hortons!" Trinity flipped.
"McDonalds is... Well nevermind Auntie Marilyn, Tim Hortons it is."
"God you're a pain in the ass!" Auntie complained.
This was the beginning of my back to school shopping spree, three weeks before school. Since I really had no clothes, this was going to be a pricy trip. I felt bad for how much it was going to cost for Auntie Marilyn. Then I thought of something.
"Trinity? Sorry for bringing this up but do you think the Wiebe's would give me some of Bree's hand me downs since we are almost the same size?" I wondered.
"They probably would," she replied.
"When I get into the mall I'm going to disappear for a bit," Skyler randomly explained.
"Umm okay..."
"What do you guys want?" Marilyn asked us.
"Hot chocolate," Trinity said first.
"I'll have a peach mango smoothie please," I said politely, ordering something fruity that I had been craving, off of the menu board. "Without yogurt," I added when they asked.
"And I'll have a large iced Capp supreme with whip cream, caramel sauce, French vanilla flavor please with extra chocolate sauce. Oh! and sprinkles!" Auntie Marilyn glared at him, probably because he had to make it so complicated.
"Please?" Skyler added after thinking about what her glare meant. Well, he was semi right... Actually he kind of wasn't but we won't tell him.
I giggled a little and then helped Marilyn distribute the drinks.
"Mmmm!" I sighed. It was cold but I loved the fruity taste.
"Mine's better!" Skyler yelled.
"Skyler!" Marilyn snapped, using one hand to rub her temples. She lurched forward at the green light causing Skyler to almost spill his iced capp.
"Marilyn! Auntie!" he shrieked.
"Can I taste Hun?" Trinity asked.
"No! It's why you got your own!" Skyler told her.
"Fine then," she said and crossed her arms.
"Can I taste?" I asked him quietly.
"Yes," Skyler perked back up.
It was great! The flavors were perfectly combined. It was like a party in my mouth!
"That's good!" I sighed
"Now I want to taste yours," Skyler said. I gave him the plastic cup with the orange icy liquid.
He took a sip and puckered his face.
"What?" I wondered, tilting my head to the side.
"Ith cold! Anj shour!" he slurred.
"Oops," I mumbled. I forgot that the flavor of the coffee would make anything fruity, sour.
"Here now try," I said after five minutes.
He sipped again and this time he smiled.
"That's better!" he said.
We pulled into the malls parking lot.
"Now remember guys, I'm disappearing now," Skyler informed us.
"We'll be around. You're responsible for finding at least one of us if we split up," Auntie Marilyn told him sternly.
"Got it, see any one of you soon!" he yelled as he bolted off.
"Okay, we need to get you at least one or two nice dresses from Le Chateau's or something," Trinity explained.
"Oh, Kay," I said slowly.
"You's can go off on your own and get what you want, just don't overspend," Auntie told us.
"Okay! Let's go Angel!" Trinity yelled, pulling me in the direction of a store that had pink glowing off of the sign on top. Ardenes?
"They have some really cute stuff in here! I'll go look at accessories like headbands and jewelry and you can mix and match some of your outfits!" She walked off before I had a chance to say another word. The store was small though so I knew where she was at all times. I went over to a rack with a variety of shorts and pants. There were some of the cutest pairs of shorts I'd ever seen! I took two pairs of dark wash jean short-shorts with a rip or two in them, a pair of snow white shorts, four pairs of skinny jeans in the colors purple, blue, pink and regular jeans and a couple pairs of tights in neon pink, white and black.
Time to look for shirts. There was the cutest pale pink t-shirt with a baby panda bear on it! The panda was cartoon and it had the cutest, sweetest little face.
I chose a Tank Top with all the colors of the rainbow plus about five more colors, running in horizontal stripes. There wasn't much of a variety for shirts here so I decided to wait and try a different store. 'I'd go to La Senza to get some sexy pajamas though,' I thought.
"Trinity!" I called. She returned with a handful of stuff. She had a chain with a diamond wording pendant that read Angel with matching plastic diamond earrings. It's quite common I guess since Angel doesn't have to be a name, but a stereotype towards girls. Perfect Little Angel. Ugh. In her right hand was a pink ribbon choker with black lace outlining it, with a black pendant. There was also a necklace with joining flat circles that were zebra printed that also contained matching earrings, and a pair of feather earrings; aqua blue with black leopard print spots. In the other hand were two scarves. A gorgeous green color; a little darker than peridot green and a lavender purple. Well, to add to my list, purple and green shirts.
"Oh. Em. Gee!" Trinity squealed. "You're a natural at this! Your shirts are limited but we'll go to a different shop. Do you like these?" she wondered.
I bobbed my head up and down.
"The accessories are four for fifteen deal. And the scarves are three for fifteen but I got two because I didn't know what you wanted."
"Get another but make it pink."
"You suit pink," she agreed and took a pink scarf off the shelf.
"Shoes?"
I picked a pair of zip up to the ankle, jean airwalks and a pair of pure black flip flops. Black goes with everything!
"Two for twenty eh? Deal!" I yelled excitedly.
"Ready to pay?"
"Wait!" I said picking up a few makeup palettes. One was a combination of browns, a tan and gold, one consisted of soft neons; as if that was even possible, and the last was pure gel sparkle eye stuff.
"Yesh!" I finally replied.
We ended up paying one hundred and fifty five dollars for everything here so far. I felt so bad using so much money on the first store alone on Auntie Marilyn's card but I didn't exactly know what her version of overspending was.
The cashier gave me three different bags with the Ardenes logo on them and we walked out. "Wow," I said, shocked.
"You did great! In the next store you can change out of what you're wearing now and into one of those outfits you've bought already.
We quickly went into Garage and spent at most, five minutes in there. I got a pair of black and grey sweatpants but that was it. I also changed into my rainbow tank, my aqua skinny jeans since the color was on my tank top, and my aqua colored, feather earrings. I slipped on my black flip flops as well and then we continued.
It was when we were walking towards another clothes store that we finally found that mischievous kid. Skyler was running full speed down the hall towards us, clumsily dodging people and doing a semi good job of it, with nothing other than... Oh my God. A customer in training cart, with three thongs in it already. He was close to smashing into us when he stopped.
"Told you I'd find you!" he said, proud of his, and I quote, accomplishment.
"Skyler!" Trinity whispered hysterically, taking the thongs and shoving them into one of my Ardenes bags.
I giggled as Skyler stood there and wondered why Trinity had acknowledged him the way she did.
"Who are those thongs for?! And how did you even get away with buying them?!" she wondered.
"Me? And I told them my mom asked me to get them for her," he said, turning the first answer into a question.
I almost couldn't keep my giggles in anymore.
"Oh my God... Idiots!" she muttered shaking her head. "I'll let you keep the cart if you let Angel have the thongs. Got it? Have you already paid for them?"
"Fine and yes," Skyler huffed.
"I swear you still need a babysitter and you're like, fifteen! We're going into here and you're coming with." Trinity stated, practically dragging the kid. I deposited my bags into the cart to make it look like he was actually making use of it, and looked around. I found a shirt that matched the scarf I had gotten from Ardenes, perfectly! It was a woman's shirt, you could definitely tell, but the collar had little plastic emerald gems on it. I also ended up randomly finding a pair of ballet flats underneath the rack where the shirt had been. Lucky me! I also happened to stumble across a sparkly amethyst colored t-shirt with ruffled, short sleeves and a chocolate brown colored shirt with gold designs splashed and weaved along the front. This would make a great eye popper along with a bit of makeup to match. We paid and went along to the next store.
I bought a pair of pajamas from La Senza and watched as Skyler flung a thong across the store and pretend to put on a pink polka dot bra. Immature boy I tell you.
Once we paid for the things in there we went to Le Chateau to look at dresses. There were so many colors and sparkles and... Oh my gosh this will be difficult.
Actually maybe not, I thought as I walked up to some of the on sale racks. I couldn't believe my eyes! Here were two of what I thought were the most gorgeous dresses in the whole store, on the 50% off rack.
One was a black and hot pink ensemble. The top part was black with black and pink sequins and sparkles covering it. In the middle was a black bow and the bottom cascaded in a frilly, lacy, hot pink skirt. The skirt also had the beading but only in strips going down and it only went to an inch or two above my knee.
The other was plain in appearance compared to the other but still really cute and summery. It was a beautiful pale blue with a skirt that would flow nicely as you twirled. This dress went below the knee. A thick black bow around the waist was the only accent on it. It wasn't quite satin but it felt so soft.
I immediately snuck off into one of the change rooms and put the pink and black one on. I stepped out and called for Trinity.
"Trinity! I found the two that I want! This is one," I explained. Her mouth dropped open, as did Skyler's when he decided to walk by.
"I fricken LOVE it!" Trinity shrieked, enunciating the word love.
"Okay and then there's this one. Hang on a sec."
I slipped the other one on effortlessly.
"It's final. You're definitely getting both!"
I changed back into my normal clothes and looked at Skyler. His mouth was still hanging open, looking like a sexy idiot.
"Snap out of it! Come on dumbo!" Trinity sighed, grabbing Skyler's ear and dragging him out while I paid. Because they were both half price, I got a huge discount on them. Score!
"I think I'm done shopping for today at least," I said as we walked back to the food court.
"Jeez! I'm tired!" Skyler complained.
"Really?! You pushed a baby cart around the mall the whole time, basically riding in it, making me push you half the time, and you're tired! That's nice Sky," Trinity snorted.
I giggled and scanned the crowd for Auntie Marilyn's strawberry blonde head.
"Come."
When we reached her, I grabbed her card and handed it back to her. She had a big smile on her face and I shyly smiled back.
"How was your spending spree?" she asked.
"Good!" I replied, happy.
"How much do you think you spent?" she asked, sounding curious rather than mad.
"Umm... I'd say around, maybe three hundred and fifty dollars, maybe not even," I explained, feeling ashamed.
"That's it?!" she wondered.
'That's it?!?!' I thought. This woman is crazy! Trinity probably would have spent at least five hundred if she had the chance so I guessed it wasn't too bad then.
"You can show me what you bought late..."
"Auntie look what I got!" Skyler shouted, interrupting Auntie Marilyn as he ripped the thongs out of my bags.
"Skyler!" she scolded.
"They're m-mine actually!" I stuttered nervously. In a sense they were, but he had bought them.
She shook her head at Skyler's immaturity but turned back to me. "Angel. I went and did a bit of shopping of my own and bought you this. It's for emergencies and you know, for whatever y'alls like to do these days," she chuckled. In her hand was the new iPhone 5. I gasped and shook my head.
"Auntie, I can't take this!" I said.
"I've already paid for it. Plus I haven't spoiled anyone in a long time," she said quietly, looking a little sad. My hand shook as I gingerly took it from her.
"Thank you," I whispered and gently jumped at her, wrapping my arms around her and burying my head into her shoulder. "For everything. I love you." I did. Like the mother I didn't have.
'But have had.'
She was tearing as I pulled away, but she tried to cover it up by wiping her cheek.
"Now don't you's go and break it right aways, you hear?" she instructed.
"Yes ma'am!" I saluted.
"Auntie!" Skyler cried.
"Oh shut up. You have one of them phones dontcha?" she told him.
"Yeah but not the five!" he whined.
"Your dad will be sending one out to you any day soon anyways..." she muttered.
When we got home, I went to Trinity's and she put a whole whack of music onto my iPhone thanks to the app Bree had downloaded onto her computer that converted YouTube files into mp3 files. Everything from Mariana's Trench to Owl City to Taylor Swift and Pitbull. I loved it all!
My earphones were those ear muff looking ones. Aqua blue Skull Candy brand. I couldn't do anything to pay Auntie Marilyn back.
I've only been here for two and a half weeks and all these people have been so amazing to me.
"Thank you God. I couldn't have asked for anything else," I whispered.
I swear I heard an answer but I couldn't be too sure.
