Whoosh.
The ball swiftly encircled the hoop before entering it.
The Basketball was weirdly silent but it had a valid reason, today was tournament day and people were at The Rider's court. Yoongi was supposed to join them but he stepped out.
"You didn't play at the match?" My curiosity got the best of me.
He dribbled the ball more and more before throwing it at the hoop once again. "Nope." He stopped without adding any further explanation.
I caught the ball before he could for the first time. I was still a newbie and he looked as if he was a professional.
I dribbled it again before throwing it at the hoop.
Whoosh.
The ball entered the basket which only happened once in a while and it filled me with happiness.
"Hey, let's have a small match." He said and took the ball, starting to dribble it softly.
"Okay," I said advancing towards the ball.
"Do you know that they are deciding names for the debut?" Yoongi said while snatching the ball from me.
"Wow, that means your debut is near," I said while roaming around, trying to get the hold of the ball.
"Maybe." His eyes gleamed in the light while aiming for the hoop as I try once again to snatch the ball.
He threw it once, again and again, a basket.
I turned to run for the ball when my leg accidentally tripped on itself. I, for a millisecond, awaited for the pain of first my hands and then whole body crashing into the concrete ground but it never came, a warm hand held me back by my collar. My legs finally got sane and I finally stood up turning towards the savior with some embarrassment. He let go of my collar and turning somewhat red.
"You are so clumsy." He broke the silence looking for some wounds.
"I didn't get hurt. Thank you." I brushed off nothings on my denim.
He got the ball and came back.
"The game is still on" And he went for another basket.
I again started running, trying to dribble it away from him.
"I won't let you have it, babe," He said, dodging again and again.
Wha...
I stood dumbfounded for a second. Did he just babe me..
But he didn't pay attention to whatever he said and toggled away towards the basket.
I shook my thoughts away and ran for the ball, yanking my arm towards the ball and diverting it off its goal.
Game on.
I dribbled the ball at a high speed and bounced a few steps back and forth. A sweat-drenched Yoongi stood before me, his arms trying to get the hold of the ball as I kept it cleanly away from his reach. He dangerously started coming towards it. I needed to run in order to secure it.
I did as I thought but weirdly I was at the corner, the basket still many meters away from me and if I threw it, it wouldn't even end up anywhere near it. I ran towards the basket dribbling the ball with my left hand and the other hand to keep the other person away. He blocked my way and with a calculated move, hit the ball at the same time I tried to catch the ball. It didn't listen to me and rattled its way off the court.
Oops.I stood in that position for a second then turned away. I was constantly met by a pale face just a few inches away from mine. Colors started flowing into those whitish cheeks when my eyes met his. His eyes were deep as the sea and lidded a little in a lovely attractive dreamy way, the feeling overwhelmed me with a mixture of feelings. His eyes did some talking to mine and told many stories, like looking into his soul.
I broke the direct staring and got to the middle of the court. I gazed into the starless sky, laying down completely on the concrete ground. The lamps inside The Basketball detached the area from the rest of the world, focusing mainly on the middle of the ground.
Weirdly Yoongi just stood at his place for a while and when I got to call him, he was staring at me.
"Hey, come here" I patted the ground and laid back, staring into the sky.
He obediently listened to me and laid down beside me looking at the endless blackness.
It was peaceful, it would have been better if the lamps were off too. I liked the darkness and he seemed to like it too as he relaxed.
"It's beautiful," I mumbled.
"Yes, beautiful," He said too.
"Anyways what name did you get for the debut."
"Suga"
"Sugar?"
"No, Suga. Without r!"
"Suga!"
"Yes" He smiled and I melted in it.
"But why Suga?" I rested my head on my palm and angled facing him.
"You don't wanna know!" He chuckled and touched my arm which left sparks through me.
"Oh no, I wanna know!" I laughed giving a light punch to his arm.
"Seriously. I'll tell you afterward." He showed his full gummy smile.
"Geez." I looked at the endless sky feeling tucked inside a giant sphere.
"Suga came from Sugar really." His voice was soft.
"What? How?" Questions burst through me. I really need to watch my speech.
"Because of my skin and I look sweet." He answered even my irrational questions which weren't filtered inside my mind.
I burst out laughing, a healthy giggle.
"Sugar! Sugar! Sugar!" I ranted into the hollow sky.
"Stop it!" He laughed too in embarrassment.
"Sugar!Sugar! Sugar!"I announced once again.
"Shut up clumsy " His voice turned cheerful.
"I ain't clumsy, Sugar" I muttered.
"I ain't Sugar, Clumsy" He shot back.
We then stared at the blank sky for what felt like an eternity. Starless sky which provided depth and darkness which nurtured everything and everyone. It engulfed me into its arms providing me with genuine warmth with the breeze.
