Janis and I dash down the stairs almost tripping over each other. Then we say goodbye to my dad, but he is too busy looking up stories about the stupid creatures he has been obsessed with since mom died, and we walk to the car. Janis gets into the drivers seat. I never drive because she is too scared that i will have a flash back.I turn on the air condition on then start blasting Pierce the Veil. The ride to school seems like only a few short minutes until we are at the front door of Pleasence high school. "Take a deep breath, Maddie. It's a lot to take in at once," Janis says flipping the hair from her face aside. "I'm not dying you dumbo," I say while coping her hair flip. I start to head into the front office and when get there I ask for the principle. Then a skinny woman comes out wearing a black suit with gray stripes running down it with a bubble gum pink shirt with a red bow tie. "Hello," The woman says "Are you Madison Holt?" I smile and nod. "Follow me to my office please." We sat down and I looked around her room as she pulled up my schedule and printed it. She had snow globes with cats in them, pictures with cats in them, and ten Cat teddy bears; But no family photos. To try to pass time I ask her some questions, like what her cats names are.After a couple of minutes of questions she smiles and hands me my schedule.  Most of these teachers names sound like a type of disease. Apparently I'm taking theatre. Ugh. I smile and say thank you to Mrs.Knoll and she escorts me out of her office.  "Would you like a office aid?"she says. What the fuck  is an office aid? "Whats an office aid?" I say trying to not sound stupid. "An office aid basically runs errands for the office around school.They could show you where all your classes are." Ah okay so its basically the popular people are office aids. Great. "Yeah sure no problem," I say smiling but not really wanting one. She smiles and calls out an office aid. She says his name is Jet Hart. Weird nam- woah. That's Impossible. Completely and utterly absurd. He Looks like the man from the crash site. Every detail, every shadow. From the side swept hair to the piercing brown eyes. Completely perfect. I can feel it in my gut something telling me hes going to shatter my heart, but I dismiss it immediately.Then he walks me out of the office into the cafeteria, his keys gangling in his pocket. "New here,huh?" I nod. The loud school bell rings echoing in my ears. Almost a thousand students dash out of the classrooms and into the halls.Then I spot Janis in my peripheral vision. Her long dark brown hair flowing around her back. A few seconds after looking at her she turns around smiling. I don't know if shes looking at me or Jet. As shes walking toward us i notice Jet's arm rise and place his hand around her waist. No it cant be! Is this the guy she was talking about? "Hey Maddie! I see you've met my new boyfriend, Jet," She smiles wide and looks at me, like a puppy waiting for a command.
