I was excited to go,knowing that Andrea's grandmother, Elena, lived right next to Chace Lanford, who was probably the cutest thing to ever walk the face of the earth. Or at least, thats what I believed. I hadn't seen him in about a year though. And plus, I love going to Andrea's grandparents house. I love them like they're my own grandparents.

I turn to my mom as casual as i possibly could, being this excited.

"Mom....??" I ask in the best little girl impression I can pull off. She always knows what's coming next. I want something.

"What do you want now, Kat?" She stated matter-of-factly. Damn, she's good....

"Could I please got to Andrea's grandparents with her for the weekend?" I asked.  She just sat there and seemed to ponder at the request, but her eyes never left the road. Then we stopped at a red light and she turned to look at me.

"I guess that would be alright. Just stay out of trouble." She said "And don't forget to call once in awhile."  She added. I was ecstatic.

"Thank ya momma" I said and quickly typed the go-ahead message to Andrea.

Now, let me tell you this. Andrea's grandparents live about three hours away from our Mine and Andrea's town. Then we go there, it's not like a normal trip where teens go to visit grandma for 20 minutes then leave. Nope. When we go, we stay for days. It's like a little mini vacation

The night before we left, I spent the night at Andrea's house.  We were supposed to be leaving the house at 7:30 the nest morning, but Andrea and I both know we wouldn't be leaving that early, at the rate her parents get ready. We were up for hours that night talking. Andrea was playing video games on the floor while I was laying on her bed. I was thinking about how the next few days were gonna be pretty awesome, when my cell phone buzzed. I checked the screen and it said "3  new messages. From: Dave" My boyfriend. Oops, I guess I kinda forgot about him, being so busy.

Dave's 15. He's in the same grade as Andrea and I. He's about the same height as Andrea with dark brown hair and brown eyes. I'm going to admit this now, as terrible as it may sound. He's not exactly the.. best looking guy, but being with him for so long, I thought I had fallen in love. I hadn't even seen him all summer and I had starting ignoring some of his calls. Things weren't all that great for us, but I figured I had just hit a speed bump and I'd get over it soon enough.

I opened the messages. They all said pretty much the same thing. "Hey." "Hello??" and "Are you there?"  I figured I'd reply with just a simple "Hey." Seconds later, his reply came.

"What are you doing this weekend? You can come over here. I haven't seen you in forever"

I kind of just sighed. Half of me felt bad I was going with Andrea, the other, more predominant half, felt relieved I had an excuse not to go to Dave's.

"Can't. I'm going to Andrea's Grandma's with her. I'll text you later. Bye"  I guess it was kind of mean, but I didn't feel like talking I guess.

After another hour or so of Andrea playing video games, we shut the lights off and climbed into bed.  We chatted for awhile in the dark about little things, like how long the car ride tomorrow would be and what we would do when we got there. The conversation dulled out and replies got more spaced out as we both drifted off to sleep I thought she had gone to sleep, but then she broke the silence.

"So... What are you gonna do when you see Chace?" She said in a teasing tone of voice. My reply came after a pause.

"Who's Chace?" Lie. "I don't remember anyone named Chace" Lie. "Oh wait, yes i do. But I dont like him anyways." Another lie. "Besides, he doesn't like me so it doesn't like me so It doesn't matter. He probably doesn't even know who I am." That last part was the truth. I honestly felt like I would probably be invisible to him. Maybe I'd get a "Hey" or "What's up" out of him, but thats it. He was probably to good. To perfect, even.

Boy, was I wrong.
