Doctor's Order
»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»"Ensign Korse," a Scottish accent calls out behind a large metal pipe. You couldn't see over it, and you couldn't see through it, so you duck down to look under it. Scotty stars back at you on the opposite side of the pipe. You smile him.
"Hey Scotty. What's up?" You ask with and upbeat tone in your voice.
"Doctor McCoy has requested you see him," the short man relays to you. You nod and stand back up. Why did Bones need you? You were up to date on your medical checkups and all your paperwork was filed. Hopefully everything was okay.
You walk to the sick bay with a growing pit of dread in your stomach. When you finally reach the room, Doctor McCoy's back is to you. You clear your throat awkwardly.
The doctor turns to you and sighed in relief. "Thank heavens," he comments in his sweet southern accent.
"Scotty said you needed me?" You cut straight to the point.
"Yes, yes," he said as he grabs your wrist and pulls you along over to a patient and a nurse. The nurse seems very agitated at the patient whom you realize is Jim Kirk.
"Here she is Jim," McCoy states as he pushes you forward slightly.
Jim shoots you a flirtatious smile. "Miss Korse, you seem to grow more beautiful every day." You roll your eyes.
"Just get to the point Jim," the grumpy doctor demands.
"Fine, fine," Jim puts his hands up defensively. He looks over to you. "Would you the honor of accompanying my on a date tonight?" He asks,
"No," is your immediate reply.
Jim turns to Bones with a triumphant smirk, "Told you."
Bones and Jim begin arguing, the doctor using some colorful vocabulary and the captain responding back in his upbeat sarcastic way. Finally you had enough.
"Excuse me!" You practically scream at the two men. They wince and turn to you. "Do you still need me or can I leave you to bicker like little kids?"
"No, you are not allowed to leave until you agree to go on a date with Jim," Bones grumbles.
"No way! Why do is this even important?" You argue.
"Because our stubborn captain here won't let me give him his necessary hypospray until you agree on a date." Bones informs you.
"Just stick him!" You say.
"He keeps dodging it!"
"Well then strap him down!"
"It's not as easy as it is on tv. Just say yes!"
"No!"
"Yes!"
"You're impossible," you sigh turning to Jim. He smirks.
"Well if you aren't going to say yes, then I guess I can-" Jim hops off the medical bed.
"Ensign!" Commands the doctor.
You sigh, "Fine!" You scream. The two men fall silent. "I guess I have no choice. Captain, I'll go on a date with you."
They deadpan. Jim looks shocked. He hadn't expected that. "Really?" He asks. Before you can respond though, he screams, loud. "Ow!"
Bones gives the empty hypospray over to the nurse who had been standing quietly to the side. "Finally," he grunts before he turns to the side to examine his next patient.
"Are we done here?" You ask, ready to get back to work.
Jim nods. His confusion is replaced by a smirk, "I will be around at seven for our date. Be ready."
He walked off back to the bridge. You broke out in a grin. Maybe tonight won't be so bad.
