Meet and Greet

You really weren't planning on attending the formal banquet, but circumstances felt otherwise. And fate always won out, even over sleep. So there you were, surrounded by hundreds of the top Star Fleet officials dressed in gowns and tuxedos, trying turn the lights on.

See, you were a technician, one of the best actually, and very young (almost seventeen). You're forte was computers, but you could do just about anything. So when the lights suddenly cut off half way into the party, your older brother Spock knew you the gal for the job (of course, he didn't say it like that, but same idea).

So you hurried over to the large hall where the gathering was being , even though you were underdressed and half asleep.

"Excuse me, pardon me, make way for the girl with a toolbox," you exclaimed as you forced your way past the older Star Fleet members. Many gave you odd looks, but moved none-the-less, seeing as they didn't want to be hit with the metal box in your hand.

After swimming through the sea of bodies, you managed to reach the back wall of the room, where the electrical wires could be accessed. You were about to dig right into the colorful cords when a hand landed on your shoulder.

"Can I help you, miss?" A young, accented voice offered. You looked up to see male standing in the dark, features unknown in the blackness.

"I believe I have it handled," you stated matter-of-factly, but then scolded yourself on your Vulcan behavior. You were part human, in the company of humans, and even though you didn't look like a human, you could act like one.

After a brief moment, you spoke again, "Actually, you could do something."

The boy seemed to perk up dramatically as you relayed to him what he could do. He nodded throughout your instructions and replied afterward with an 'I can do zat!', which you could only assume was his life motto.

Even after having just met, you too were working together like a well-oiled machine. Doing what you could have accomplished in about twenty minutes took five with the stranger beside you. Soon enough the lights flashed on, and everyone clapped in thanks.

You put your tools away and turned to see the face of your mysterious helper. He was approximately your age, with curly blonde hair and shimmering blue eyes. Not bad looking at all.

"Thank you for your assistance," you said, smiling to boy in a human way. He starred back at you, eyes trained on your pointed ears.

"You are Vulcan?" He asked curiously. You nodded your head and opened your mouth to respond but your voice was cut off by your older brother, Spock, coming up beside you.

"Sister, There are a few men who wish to meet you," he said and turned to walk off, expecting you to follow. You scrambled off but stopped when you heard the cute Russian voice.

"Wait!" He asked quickly, "What is your name?"

"Cooki. Cooki S'chn T'gai," you replied quickly, before disappearing into the crowd.

The boy looked down at your forgotten toolbox and softly rolled your name off his tongue. He would see you again, he promised himself.

And fate agreed with him.

-Hello fellow readers, it has been a few weeks, I have been quite busy, and will continue to be so these next few weeks. Nevertheless, I will still attempt to keep this going, as long as those who read keep reading.

A quick (and important) note: I cannot keep track of requests when they are made on every chapter I write. They are jumbled in the comments and I lose track of them. So, I will only take the requests that are made in my First and Foremost chapter. I hope I haven't offended anyone drastically with this.

My love goes out to all of you -BBoC
