Like thunder

My face was covered in dirt by the time I exited the broken building. Someone set off a bomb and exploded half of the building into pieces. Luckily, we got out just in time.

"What's going on?" Peter asked.

"Since we got the bald guy in custody, the other officials sent out a team." Malaya referred to her screen, "The other officials are here too."

"All of them?" I asked.

No one answered me, but when I looked to the back, Peter and Malaya looked at me with a deadly expression.

Oh, if looks could kill...

"How do you manage to make a bad situation even worse than before?" Peter started, "Oh right, by throwing some bombs and brain boggling stuff in the mix. Just shut up!"

"Fine."

Suddenly, people with guns started to run towards us. We were in a situation where you could decide to run or to fight.

I chose to run.

There was no way I was getting shot again, so I hid behind a truck like a coward. I peered past the bonnet and started shooting away. Soon, the ground that the men were standing on was stained red and my bare feet were sore of all the stones I stepped in. When everyone was distracted by the loud horn that sounded, I ran towards a clearing of trees.

Now, the thing of running across hot stones with no shoes on, was a problem. I had no choice, but to endure the pain. My feet started to burn and I wasn't even close to the trees when someone called my name.

"What?!" I yelled angrily as I looked back.

Big mistake.

My toe bumped against a rock and I fell to the ground.

Falling wasn't the painful part

Falling wasn't the painful part. The painful part is when I looked at my big toe and the skin in front of it, was peeled away. Blood was running out of it like water out of a bottle.

"Fuck!" I yelled.

With the last of my strength, I got up and limped towards the tree. I hid behind one and held my toe.
