Eva couldn't sleep last night. For some reason she kept waking up again and again. So when the alarm went off, she didn't feel like going to the coffee shop. But being the only owner and worker except her waitress at the shop, she had no choice but to go.
Finally she reached her coffee shop. Phew, the traffic had been brutal but she still made it in time. She opened her shop 7:30 am every morning and it was exactly 7:28.
As she was going to unlock her store gate, she noticed the lock had been pried open. What the fuck? It had been just a month that she had opened the store and already there was a B&E?
As she opened the store, she expected the place to be trashed but surprisingly it was alright. Nothing had been turned over. She went to the counter to check what had been taken but nothing had been. What was going on?
In fact, she couldn't spot a difference in her coffee shop. But then, why was the lock broken? But as soon as she turned to go behind the counter, her eyes fell on an envelope sitting on a table.
Picking it up she gingerly tore the corner and a white paper fell out.
How are you my sweetheart? Hope New York is suiting you better than Denver? Ah, sorry we couldn't chat the last time we met, but I was after something you see. So Tara or should I call you Eva now, I would like to have coffee with you.
Love,
Dom Suarez"Eva?" the letter flew out of Eva's hand and she clutched at her heart. Her waitress was standing there, shrugging off her coat.
"Lauren, yeah I am fine. You took me by surprise."
"I bet." she said smiling.
Eva went and picked up the letter, hurriedly stuffing it back in the envelope. She steadied herself and took in long breaths. How could Dom had found him? Everything had been done to ensure her identity was kept a secret. For all he new, Eva could have been anywhere. How in the world did he find her. He was supposed to be in prison.
"Eva, there is an order for two espressos for table 6." said Lauren, breaking her chain of thoughts.
"Yeah sure." said Eva, dragging her feet to make espressos. She might as well make three. The letter was worth tequila but espresso would do as well.

Nate had been given a beautiful office. Knowing the owner had its perks after all. Nathan had thought Steve owned a small agency or something but his firm turned out to be a full fledged organisation. As he entered the twelve story building in downtown Manhattan, he was impressed.
After he was introduced to Steve's team, Steve asked her assistant Clara to show him around the office. The building tour took almost an hour and finally Clara had shown him his office. It was amazing. The room had just glass for one wall the showed the beautiful New York skyline. It was 5 times bigger than DPD cubicle. The furniture were upholstered in black leather only and a huge table sat with a sliver nameplate, Nathan Anderson.
Wow, Nate thought.
———————————————————————It was 9 o'clock and Eva was cleaning up the counter as it was time for them to close.
"So, Lauren any plans for the weekend?"
"Yes, I will be staying over at my sister's. Clara works in downtown Manhattan and she is always busy. Both of us live in New York yet we meet once in 6 months."
"Really? What does she do?"
"She is an assistant to the CEO of R.C Security."
"Oh so they provide security service?"
"Yes security as well as PI. They also do some bounty hunting." said Lauren laughing.
"My Dad says it is just a fancy office for hiring thugs."
Eva smiled, but her brain was working.
Eva had been considering going to the police for her problem. Today Dom broke into his coffee shop, next he could get into her apartment. She didn't even have family who would make a 911 call if she went missing. So she had to act quick.
As soon as she reached home, she locked her doors and windows, looked under the bed and tables and also closed her blinds. Pouring herself a glass full of wine she switched on her laptop.
After about half an hour of research and 3 glasses of wine, she decided to drop an email at R.C Security.
———————————————————————
Nathan walked into his office, still not used to its size. After setting up his company email account with the help of Clara, he decided to go over at Steve's office. He knocked twice and heard, "Come in."
He was pouring over a file with a concerned look. Seeing Nate, he closed his file and smiled.
"If you're busy, I can come later."
"No, no. Come in."
"Everything alright?" asked Nate.
"Yeah, it's just this mail that we received yesterday. She is claiming that she got a threatening letter from Dom Suarez."
"But that's impossible." said Nate. "He is in prison."
"Yeah about that, I contacted the Denver Police Department. He is not in prison."
"He what? How?" Asked Nate, surprised.
"He got bailed."
David, thought Nate, furious.
"If this letter is real, we have a greater problem. Dom Suarez is in New York. And whoever he is threatening can't go to police that is why she called us, which means she must have something to hide."
"Steve, let me work this case. I know I am new and you wanted me in security training first but I have insight on this case. And trust me I know Dom more than anyone."
"Well I was about to ask you but I didn't know if you would agree after what happened. I will make the arrangements for you. You need a Pistol Licence before you start investing. But I guess you'll be fine interviewing this woman first. Here's the address to her work place."
