Happy Reading!

Everything was pitch black. The weather was dark and dangerous. Trees were swirling like puppets in the hands of the stormy wind. The only light came from sporadic lighting. Thundering of the clouds was all I could hear apart from my pounding heart. Windows were hitting back and forth against the locked latches, ready to break any moment.
I was scared. Not because of the storm but because you were still not home. Alone and anxious in the big house which we had built together, my body was shaking with every passing second as the weather kept worsening. But all I could do was sit on the floor, lean my head against the sofa and wait. Wait for you.

I had warned you not to go out. But your were persistent, after all you had a big deal to crack today.
It was getting late, past the usual time you come home. Your phone was unreachable and my phone on the verge of being dead. I could do nothing. There's no other way I can contact you. Unconsciously, I touched my lips to relive your last touch. A treacherous tear slipped from my eye.

A sound broke my trance.

Ring...Ring...

Hurriedly, I grabbed my phone from the table.

Unknown number.

I picked up the call.

"Hello...babe.. You there...??"

"Sam is that you?? Where are you. Are you okay??" My eyes widened and I quickly put a hand on my mouth to prevent myself from sobbing.

"Yes, Listen.... Safe.. Accident.... Me... Okay!?"

"Sam I can't understand anything. Did you have an accident? Where are you? Tell me, I'll come."

"I'm okay...You-" I heard a scream and the phone got disconnected. I tried calling back and on my 15th attempt, my phone gave up.

Why? Why is this happening to me? To us?

This time I didn't hold back. I cried and cried. How can I not? How can I not worry when I know why you hate storms. Why thundering of clouds scare you and how they remind you of your ugly past.
And it hurts more to know that I'm not with you. To comfort you, to tell you that it will be okay.
I lay on the floor with my eyes open just in case I happen to see you again.

Sunlight seeping through the window hit my face. Slowly opening my eyes I let it adjust to the room. The storm was over. The dark night was over. And you....
You were staring at me, letting your eyes roam on my face. I could see the fear in them. Fear of losing me.

"Hey baby-"
I threw myself at you, hugging you so tight, as if you might slip like sand from my hands and all this would prove to be a dream.

"I'm here now. I'm okay". You said caressing my hair.

"Are you real. Is this real?" my tears kept ruining your shirt. But we could care less.

"Yes it is. And this is real too-" your lips landed on mine. The kiss was like  nothing before. It was full of love and patience. We could feel the fear of losing each other. It was a kiss that said I will never let you go.

"Are you okay?" I let my hands roam on your body in search of any injury. "I thought I lost you." my voice a mere whisper. "I know how much you hate thunders and lightings. Tell me. Are you okay.?"

Cupping my cheeks with your hands, you said the words which melted my heart " Look at me. You see the sunshine in this room. This sunshine we long for after the bad weather, it brings a message that the worst is over and a new day has started. You're my sunshine, Love. How can I leave you? How can I not come back to my sunshine? How can I not wish for this? You're my hope keeping me alive to start a new day everyday."

Actually the idea of this chapter popped in my mind when I was staring at the rain from my window. I had written this chapter almost a week ago but due to network and Internet issues I couldn't post it. So here it is.
