Chapter 1

Kate's POV
I woke up to a loud bang

"What the fuck?" I asked myself

I walked downstairs and went into the kitchen where the noise came from

"Mom?"

She looked up at me

"Hey honey sorry if I woke you. I'm trying to get everything packed up"

"You do realize we can just hire someone to do it for us right?"

"It costs too much and we can do it just fine" she said crossing her arms and looking at me

"That's the perk of being what we are. We can just compel them to do it for free"

"We need to act as normal as we can to blend in. Now go finish packing" she said grabbing the pots and pans that she dropped

I rolled my eyes and went back up to my room

I looked around at the now empty walls

I can't believe we are moving again this is the second time this year

We move around a lot because if we don't people will start to catch on to why we aren't aging so every few years we move from place to place but recently there has been an outbreak of hunters running around so now we have to move to all the way from Oregon to Virginia. My mom has been stressed recently thinking about the hunters, my dad was killed by one before I was born. They thought he was a vampire but he wasn't. It was a wrong place at the wrong time kind of thing. My mother got so scared she would lose me and my brother she turned us right after she was turned in 1947, 73 years ago to be exact. My brother took it worse than me, he never has had very good control over his anger but now it was worse as it mixed with bloodlust. I however have been doing fine. My mother turned me when I was 17  my brother was 20 and even back then I never wanted a normal life. I never wanted kids or anything like that, I just wanted excitement and thrill. I guess I got what I wanted. My brother doesn't care about that stuff either we have always been alike in that sense I guess, except he's uptight and I like to let lose.

I sighed and went to take a shower and get dressed into clothes that I didn't mind getting dirty

I began carrying boxes downstairs until I was left with my backpack

I grabbed it and made my way downstairs

** time skip to unloading at new house**

As we pulled up to the house I was in awe it was beautiful.

I looked at my mom

"I don't think this is a house that normal people would live in" I say still looking at the house

"It's closed off and private. Perfect for us" she said happily getting the boxes and making her way up to the house

This is good place to have a party I said in my head as I was walking inside

" no no no I know what your thinking don't even" Ryan said looking at me

"What"

"No parties no nothing. We are staying here for a very long time and we don't need to be worrying about getting caught and killed" he said looking at me pointing a finger

"Wait. How long are we staying here?" I asked getting excited

"A very very long time Kate" my mom said coming in

"So you mean I can actually make friends and possibly get a boyfriend?"

She nodded

I screamed

"THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU" I yelled hugging her and jumping

I've never been so happy in my life. I can finally get close to people without worrying about leaving

"Your welcome now get your boxes and go to bed. You have school tomorrow" I stopped being happy and rolled my eyes

School is something I hated to the bone. I've been going to school for decades but unless I want people to know what I am I have to.

I walked into my room and smiled

It has a king size bed with my own bathroom and behind the blackout curtains there was a view of the forest

*room below just imagine bigger and with a bathroom attached*

I decide that I should probably go to sleep

I laid down thinking about school tomorrow
